Okay, I followed a link from alicettlg's journal and was going to comment there, but it got long and vaguely wanky, so. These nuts. While I am not belittling anyone's efforts in any way or telling anyone how their should spend their own money, all I can think is - those $13,000 could have done SO MUCH somewhere. That's what, six and a half grand? And that's ( Read more... )

It's really fucking tragic because they could have been clever about this. Save a real town for a fictional town, you know? Put those thousands of dollars into one Third World town, save lives, give children a future. Do it in the name of the show, get some publicity, get a pity reprieve for doing something so awesome.

I am really fucking furious about this.

Tell me about it. I know this is what I do and so I'm passionate about it, but seriously. This is just unbelievable.

*headdesk* OK, so I was quite fond of some of the Jericho characters and would have liked to see more of them, but HONESTLY?!

It's... I don't have words. And well... what are the poor executives going to do with all the nuts, anyway? (I mean, they might even be allergic.) It's such an enormous waste. Like you said, if the fans felt the need to give money, why couldn't it have gone to something useful?

You know what? I liked the show. I've got a few more episodes to watch. It was entertaining and unoffensive. But *this*. Just. Oh, M.

Apparently, give them away. "We've made arrangements for the bulk of the boxes to be picked up by Staten Island Project Home Front, an organization that focuses on fundraising and supporting military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan." Because those kids being sent out there really need peanuts.
