Not a worthwhile person

Got a message today from REI saying they've changed their minds and don't want to hire me. Reason given: they decided to do a smaller round of hiring. Do I have an "incompetent" sign taped on my back? I fear what's happening with everywhere I apply is that they're calling Amazon, and my managers either don't want to take the time to talk or are ( Read more... )

Did you sign the Amazon release form? Otherwise, all they'll do is verify dates of employment...

Yes - not until a month and a half ago, because I am DUMB, but I did. I should probably call and make sure they got it.

Didn't you *listen* to Bob Gross on your first day? Sheesh. At this rate, I'll have to give you my t-shirt. The one with Bob's quote on it, not the one I got yesterday morning, with "I'm a noun" printed on it.

Anyway. Bad things happen to good people, but they overcome. I have no worries about you.

REI is dumb. If you're really concerned that Amazon is screwing you over, you could try contacting the guy that really wanted to hire you and ask him in a friendly manner if he could explain why they didn't hire you. Finding a job is hard, and it's a long process.

Having worked at a temp agency for five days, I highly recommend it. It's good pay, and sometimes it can even lead to long-term employment.
