REGRETFUL TEMPTATION
as he slid further into me
i realized this was the last place i wanted to be
the heat was making me sick
his breath reeked of beer and uncleanliness
i could hear laughing and music
my friends in the other room had no idea; hadn't noticed i'd left
his slurred speach was incoherent
he traced the edge of my ear, trying to be sexy and failing
i dug my nails deep into his back
i bit hard into his shoulder; breaking skin; tasting blood
the pressure started building
as much as i hated him; i needed this release
one. last. final. push-
and i shoved him off of me, got out of bed, and put my pants back on
FALL ASLEEP
may i hold you as you fall asleep?
your eyes can't stay open, your voice is becoming faint
just keep scooting closer into me, closer, closer
may i hold you as you fall asleep?
your hand is gripping my shirt, pulling me down to you
a gentle kiss on your forehead, and you're dreaming
i whisper "good night" into your ear
the corners of your lips curl, even in your sleep
i wish i could stop time, keep you with me forever
HOW CAN I TELL YOU THAT I LOVE YOU?
i haven't been able to sleep for years
we climbed into bed, exhausted
he gave me a gentle kiss on my forehead
took me in his arms
and fell asleep
i wrapped his arms closer around me
felt safe in his warm embrace
thoughts circled round and round in my head
every noise was deafening
he yawned and pulled me even tighter into him
our bodies so close we became one
my heart beat slowed down to match his
we started to breathe at the same rate
i could feel my brain slowing down
warm weights were pulling down on my eyelids
the lights through my curtain began to fade away
i sighed a breath of relief
my body was suddenly very light
floating up to the ceiling
his arms were the only thing holding me down
keeping me close
i fell asleep in his arms that night
WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW
I can hear the june bugs approaching
Lay down in the grass and close your eyes
We can hide here. Away from the lights and the sounds
Away from our fears and the lies
We've not seen each others eyes for weeks
Take time to touch my face, kiss my lips
I hold your hand in mine. Hold it so tight
In these moments I feel forever
I can hear the june bugs approaching
We try to count stars, but the moon outshines them all
You make me a daisy chain. I wear it as a crown
I gently kiss every inch of you. Leaving red lip marks all over
We'll just lay here while the world ends
I'll tell you stories that make you laugh
You'll tell me secrets that make me cry
We won't notice armegeddon in our bliss
JUNE BUGS
Armegeddon awaits
-There'll be no tomorrow-
I can hear the june bugs approaching,
Surrendering our souls.
When time starts fading,
The world could just stop.
Tomorrow's just another day.
One last night
Here with you
Far from the city
Right here, forever.
What's one day when we've got eternity?
YOU'RE SO FAR AWAY
i whispered you a story
into the soft blowing wind.
it danced through the air
-letters flying everywhere-
a disarray of the's and or's,
a collage of he's and she's.
sentences got caught in the trees,
tangled and mangled
in the branches.
tickled, the trees shook away my words.
the wind calmed
and my story dropped to the ground,
shaking, needing to be heard.
needing to be felt.
a new breeze,
running a different way,
swooped down
and scooped up those dying words.
you felt the warm wind on your face.
and started crying.
