Yea I hear ya...:(
I try to get really good food for my dogs, but since we are low on money I must admit I haven't been getting the best lately.
My fiance is the only person working so I need to get a job and we can feed the doggies better...:(
THANK YOU for writting this though, I will show my fiance and see if he will think about it. It's important to me, but I couldn't express entirely WHY it is...so now I have this!! :)

i highly recommend canidae/felidae for you guyses...it's not the best of the best, but it's really good. around here at least, it's about $1/lb if you buy the 20 lb bags, which is cheaper than stuff like nutro or sd. plus they eat less.the three of my cats that don't have allergies eat it and love it. i think for three cats we buy one bag every two months, give or take.

GOD YOUR DOGS ARE CUTE. i want to rub my face all over their bellies.

Can I apply these same rules to cats as well? I want my Lady K having the best.

yep, absolutely. the only thing i would add is that the brand name canidae is marketed under felidae for cats. i would also say that for cats grain free food is all the more important. their digestive systems cannot process any kind of vegetable or grain.

if you want any other info or anything i would be HAPPY to show off my retarded knowledge ;)

OMG I LOVE RETARDED KNOWLEDGE! You should see my capacity to read encylopedias and nerdy forums on inane subjects.

When it comes to my kitty, I want her to be the cutest, healthiest, and least stinky poo evar!

Most of the recommended brands I've never heard of. Where in Richmond are some available.

pj petts next to carytown ukrops carries solid gold, wellness, canidae/felidae, nature's variety(kibble and raw), chicken soup, innova, and natural balance. this is where i usually shop, unless they don't have in my particular type of solid gold.

dogma carries wellness, innova, i think nature's variety, maybe a few others, i'm not sure exactly. they also carry nature's variety raw food.

pet club (there are a few around, i know there is one on parham near regency) carries wellness, chicken soup, solid gold, and a few others.

beggar's bones on meadow carries wellness.

betty baugh vet clinic carries nature's variety and a few others.

fin & feather and pet club both carry quite a few of the premium brands. they also carry puppy mill pups so i they are off my list.

i'm sure there are a few more places, but carytown is pretty convenient for me so i don't really explore elsewhere. sometimes groomers will also carry certain types of premium foods, and some other vets too.

hello cute dog!

in my experience (ymmv) my dogs didn't like wellness. it smelled funny. granted i think we tried the fish and sweet potato variety, maybe their other varieties are better. but that one...wasn't a big hit at our house. i do know that pet club has little free sample bags of wellness that you can taste-test though.
