I've come to the conclusion that Emily Haines' voice is almost haunting when she sings in a lower key. I suppose there's a good reason why I would often listen to Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton back in Melbourne when I felt upset. Obviously at other times as well, but I would lock myself in my room and play Knives Don't Have Your Back on repeat.
