[NEWS] GACKT BLOG 3/16/11

It's VERY long.
And I'm exhausted after pulling so many semi-allnighters.
So, I'm just gonna summarize it real quick.

To Anybody Who May Have Doubts about the Charity Fund, Please Read. GACKT

He first thanks everybody from top to bottom that are working very hard right now.
And above all, he tells the victims to never give up hope, assuring that help is on the way.

The metropolitan area today has a huge shortage of supplies, and means to deliver them including fuels.
But still, he and his friends looked desperately for supplies and fuel, and were able to collect all they could.
He hopes they'll be of some help to the victims, and that the victims can feel the care and courage they infused in the supplies.

He noticed some of the fraudulent emails and chain mails, and he is furious at the people involved.
He wonders what in the world they're doing at a time like this.
He says he'd give them his fast 'heel drop' if they were right in front of him.
He asks everyone to be leery of them, and says he's so ashamed of the lowness of these people as a Japanese himself.

He wants people to understand that NHN JAPAN was the very first company to lend him a hand and started moving swiftly with him.
They have been working sleepless days and nights together since then.
He's known them since DRAGONEST. The president of the company donated some of his own money, and set up a separate account for the donation fund through his company. This was volunteered by the president himself in order to protect GACKT from any bashing he may suffer from the media if GACKT himself used his own separate charity account. The president and his staff wanted GACKT to be able to concentrate on the charity without being distracted by frivolous noises.

He is also applying to open a charity account dedicated to SHOW YOUR HEART, but this will take a long time, so NHN JAPAN has offered their account that can be used for the charity until then. Needless to say, they're using a certified accountant for the fund, too.
He had planned to publicly disclose the current situation of the charity fund in real time, but the development of the system required was going to take too long, so he's postponed this plan. He had a mountain of other, more urgent things to do anyway.
Right now, about 700,000,000 (yen, I'm assuming) has been collected.

They've decided to carefully discuss where to send the money to.
They'd originally thought about giving the donations directly to the prefectural governor(s) so they can use it for the restoration of the cities, but the government organizations were too busy handling their own crisis situations. As a result, they decided to use the money for the immediate relief of the victims.

While making a clear distinction between "immediate rescue operation" and "support for restoration", they have decided to fully support the Japanese Red Cross.

They've decided to ask for donations in separate shorter terms, not a single long term.
This is because it is much easier to concentrate and give their all for a shorter period of time, put an end to it, and then start it afresh, than to exhaust themselves through a long-term operation.
This is also to keep reminding people of the disaster, even after the focus on it has dissipated somewhat.
People generally forgot about the Great Hanshin Earthquake after a while, but the victims kept suffering, and many of them killed themselves out of despair.

Just imagining it makes me cry.
What if the world has abandoned us?
What if the world has forgotten about us as something from the past?

People can live on with hope.
With hope, we can survive.
If we believe that we're never abandoned, and that someone somewhere is thinking about us,
we can live on.
We can live on if we believe that we're not all alone.

This is why they will collect money in divided time periods.
And at this time, the aim is to "Support the Japanese Red Cross".
He promises to make it successful, and to concentrate more of their activities on restoration efforts later.

He talks about how Nishikawa (TM Revolution) is working very hard, too, with the same goal of doing something, anything, to help.

So, for now, he has decided to work as hard as he can until March 31 in his first effort of rescue operation.

He just wants people to do something, and stop thinking it's someone else's business.
He says, so what if people think you're just showing off? Who cares, as long as you're doing something you can do, at this moment in time, out of an urge to reach out and help?

Wouldn't you be happy?
If someone thanked you from the bottom of their heart for your action?

That's it.
The motivation is quite simple.

We are Japanese.
We are a people who can reach out to our neighbor in need.

People who've forgotten such spirit will ruin this country and the children living in this country.

We are the Japanese who have such spirit in our heart.
That's why,
now is the time to move, isn't it?

So what if people thought you were trying to be a hero?
Who cares, as long as you know you are, at this very moment in time,
better than yesterday's you, even just a little bit?
Who cares, if you can experience something like that?

I'll now nap for a little while.

GACKT

Wow, why do I always end up giving a lot more details than i originally planned? =_____=
Anyway, I'm really glad he decided to concentrate on donating to the Japanese Red Cross for now.
Now....I'm really really tired. orz
