June, 2002.

School had ended exactly a week ago. You finally finished Your third year of high school. Your parents have agreed that it would be best to go somewhere bigger and better.

Once You wake up that morning, You see boxes everywhere, stacked on top of each other. It saddens You but at the same time, You couldn't have been happier. You pull on the jeans and tee shirt over the boxers You wore to bed and run a hand through Your shaggy, brown hair.

You pass by Your parent's room and hear Your mother crying. You lay in bed with her and let her hold her baby boy one last time before he leaves home. The two of you miss lunch and end up sleeping until its time to drive to the airport.

Matt and Your father pack the truck up. You and Matt squish into the small back seat while Justin sits in the front between Your mother and father. Right before You leave, You run into Your mother's room and steal a piece of string from her beading box and tie it around You neck. Nothing special, just a plain piece of black string that she would have used as a necklace. You wear it as a memory. You also steal a family photo from the living room. You fold it up and slid it into Your pocket, then run outside to Your waiting family.

The ride was short and awkward. It was silent other then the motor of the old truck, and Your mother's sniffles. She holds Justin like she had done to You and You know that Matt's going to have a longer goodbye hug then You or Justin.

You grab Your bags quickly and stand back, watching Your mother try to be helpful to the other boys. It makes You smile. When You walk into the airport, You stand back with Justin and look around at everything. You felt so dumb for staring in amazement at something so plain but being sheltered made You like this. You couldn't imagine what it'll be like when once you get to the city.

Your goodbyes are long and the five of You don't let go of each other until Your flight is called over the speakers. You give Your parents both hugs and kisses and strain to hear Your mother's shaky yells, telling You to be safe and whatnot, as Your brothers rush You into the crowds. For the first time in Your life, You climb on to the plan, sweaty hands gripping the straps of Your book bag, and fallow Matt with Justin right behind You. Justin gets the window seat, and Your in the middle with Matt on the other side of You. Before the plane takes off, You look at both Your brothers and smile, feeling safer then ever. Then, You realize that, they made You feel this way on purpose.

September 2002.

You've been in school for only a few months. It was just like back home except it was filled with kids with terrible accents and it was much bigger. You didn't let that bother You, though. Instead, You just focused on school, work, and Your music, just like always. You were working at a record store, at the edge of Manhattan. You took the subway to Manhattan every day after school from the big apartment You shared with both Your brothers and Matt's band, on the border of Brooklyn and Queens. Matt would usually end up dropping by at the end of Your shift from his job at an Auto shop in eastern Manhattan only because he was afraid of You wondering so late at night.

The move, months earlier hadn't been as hard as everyone had thought it'd be. The seven of You had quickly became comfortable in the apartment that the band had been living in before You'd gotten there. The band was doing pretty well, a show every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at a bar. It reminded You of the one back home, how content You had been once You walked in.

You all were pretty quick at calling the city 'home'.
