I think the notion that white people aren't allowed to be heavily interested in another culture a pretty silly idea. If we restrict white people to only being interested in their own culture, how can we be surprised when they are so ignorant of other cultures? I know there's a grey area with appropriation and fetishizing, etc., but we can't ban people from being interested in other countries! "you weren't born there, so you have no right to care deeply about it" is ridiculous; we can't restrict people by their borders. In cases where you can be assured that there's no malice or white privilege behavior involved, then I don't see why there should be a problem. It feels a bit Big Brother-ish if people try to disunite the world that way.
