THIS IS A SERIOUS POST. I woke up this morning and went to my beautiful rat's cage and she had given birth sometime during the night. Though I kind of suspect she may have given birth only a few hours ago, because she is still really big and has only had 5-7 babies

i wish i could take one...how long before you're ready to give them away?

At about 17 days is when they get a full coat of fur and open their eyes, though they still need their mother's care. My rat babies are only a day old so it will probably be another 24 days before they are ready.

Aww.. haha you should talk to your friends about getting one. Their really loving animals. I wish I could keep them all, but 2 rats, a ferret, and a cat are enough for me.. having 7 extra ratties running around would be a bit too much :)

I want these ratties to have a good home. People rarely go to a pet shop for pet rats. If I give them to a pet shop, it's almost a 95 out of 100 chance that they'll get eaten by snakes. :(

Hrm... Just discovered this community, and saw this post. I live in Cleveland, and havn't had a rat since my first one a few years ago died -_-;; I'm staying at my uncle's while attending college, so I'll have to talk to him first, but I may just take you up on that offer ^_^

currently we have 1 light brown/tan one, 3 little white babies, and 4 little dark gray ones.. there colors and genders arent completely obvious yet, but by the 16th it'll be quite relevant. If you decide to take one, we can arrange something. Just email me. :)
