i really, really did my best to try to make the painted veil sound interesting in my review, but you're right. it's pretty stupid.

i'm kind of afraid that, thirty years from now, one of my english professor contemporaries will stumble upon that review and embarrass me.

After reading the book, I was actually very impressed by how complex you made it sound. When it really...wasn't. Anyway, no need to be embarrassed about the review: writing interesting reviews of bad books takes skill. That's how I made it through my thesis!
