Reading The Slow Man by Coetzee.  Drago, this young cool thing, asks Paul Rayment, an aging amputee, whether or not he likes anything new.  Paul tries to explain that he has given up on newness--that once he was new, but since then, he has been overtaken by time.  And this, I agree, is how it goes: one becomes overtaken by time.  One is no longer ( Read more... )
