So I just watched the Quebec Remparts win the Memorial Cup, and I have reservations about the tournament for the first time. I'm sure it was sparked by my Petes being the first team out of the tournament, but seeing the looks on the faces of the Moncton Wildcats is really bugging me. I think winning the league is still seen as a huge accomplishment. It might be hard to take right now when you are fresh off a defeat, but it is a very big deal.
I think of the Mem Cup as a bonus, because, as you said, it isn't really against any teams that you know, and is a strange format for playoffs.
Maybe it's just that the Pete's have won the OHL enough times to make it seem less special ;) The Knights have only managed it once.
