Title : [December Drabble Challenge] Day Two : Devoted
Author : Jadey
Rating : PG. Romance.
Pairing : OHNO/NINO
Summary : ..........
Note : ahhhhhhhhhhhhh :DDDD

Blabber Note 2: Okay, so how about I do something stupid? Like writing a drabble based on those favorite fics I’ve read before? The author herself might kill me for doing this but this is actually my way of saying YOU GUYS ARE SO AWESOME AND I LOVE YOUR BRAINS, OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU ALL XD
Blabber Note 3 : And if any of the author whose stories I will end up drabbling here thinks this is somewhat offensive, please do let me know. AND I DEEPLY APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR THIS.

(Based on darkdropout ‘s An Unexpected Engagement (or: A Japanese Boy’s Guide to (English) Love and Marriage)

In my head, this is what happens in Chapter 3, the morning after Ohno’s chivalrous marriage proposal to Sakurai Mai.)

*+*
Nino wakes up to a headache the size of his hometown and to Ohno breathing lightly against his temple.

For a moment there, he finds himself leaning further into that familiar warmth in an unconscious manner, groaning as he buries his face into the fabric of Ohno’s shirt. He is, obviously, not even marginally awake to even remember why his head is throbbing and why he and Ohno are sleeping together on the same bed when they’ve always been careful not to ever since they came here.

He shifts and Ohno does, too. Soon Nino finds himself cocooned inside Ohno’s embrace before he realizes it, arms gentle yet possessive around Nino even in his sleep. He sighs, turns to nuzzle the side of Ohno’s neck, tells himself he just needs five minutes more of this, before he freezes.

Soon enough, he is bombarded with the painful memories of the night before, feeling sick as he stays there, unmoving, heat filling the corners of his eyes as he listens to Ohno’s quiet breaths.

Watching the way Ohno had went down on his knees as he took Mai’s hand in his and asked her to marry him, was painful. Even more painful than what he felt when Ohno shoved him away the first time, probably worse.

He drank himself to oblivion hoping to drown the misery but even that proved to be useless. He could still hear himself think even while he walked away, his senses on edge as he wobbled his way to the direction of Ohno’s room, heart beating furiously hard inside his chest.

What happened next was a blurry affair, and most of what he did (and said) he couldn’t recall anymore, but Nino is certain that the latter parts before he passed out were real. The feel of Ohno’s fingers running through his hair, the miserable sound of his voice when he’d said - whispered - that he didn’t want to marry Mai, and that everything were just a terrible misunderstanding.

Somehow, Nino knows Ohno was telling the truth.

It was all his fault, after all, his fault things went down like they did because of his stupidity. He should have known he would end up misleading Ohno by saying things he doesn’t mean, and he did, judging with how horrible things have turned out because of it.

He shifts around as softly as he could manage it, careful not to jostle the bed so much and wake Ohno in the process. He leans up, finds Ohno’s forehead is marred with a frown when he did, looking awfully worried even in his sleep and Nino’s heart aches a little bit more at the sight of it. He reaches up, sliding his fingers gently across Ohno’s temple to erase it, before he presses a kiss - soft and apologetic - to the side of Ohno’s jaw, then another to the side of Ohno’s mouth before he pulls away.

Carefully, he tugs himself out of Ohno’s embrace, only worried for a second when Ohno whines in his sleep and Nino has to catch himself halfway from crawling back to bed next to Ohno, inside the warm cradle of Ohno’s embrace, biting his lips hard enough to command himself to back away.

They’ve got so much to talk about when Ohno wakes, but for now, Nino can’t, for the life of him, stay here and wait till Ohno opens his eyes and see how a terrible embarrassment he is for what he did, for what Ohno ended up doing because of him. He can’t, and that’s that.

“I love you, you know?” he whispers, even though he knows Ohno couldn’t possibly hear him, as he steps away to grab Ohno’s coat thrown haphazardly over a nearby chair, giving Ohno’s sleeping form one last glance before he opens the door as quietly as he could and lets himself out.
