Nino slowly opened his eyes and thought that he was sleeping beside a snoring Satoshi. However, when he looked around him, everything was so unfamiliar and Satoshi wasn’t with him.

“Where… is Nino?” He asked quietly as he scanned the room. To the far right where he was sitting on a bed, there was a white bookshelf filled with books he’s never seen Satoshi use before, and there wasn’t a single porn magazine mixed in there. Then directly a few feet from him was a large computer resting above a white table. “Here… Nino does not know where here is. This is not Satoshi’s room. Why is Nino here?”

“You were kidnapped.”

Nino moved his head slightly to the right and lowered his eyes until he saw a note-persocom about the same size as Chinen, staring up at him with no expression on his face. He wore a black blazer with a red flannel that had tiny white dots displayed on it, and a white bow tie with blue stripes going across diagonally. It matched along with the black pants he wore and tiny black shoes.

Nino titled his head to the side. “Kidnapped?”

“Right. You’ve been taken away. You’ve been abducted.”

Nino tilted his head to the other side. “Abducted?... Is that food? An animal?” He’s never heard of the word before, nor has Satoshi taught him the word itself.

The note-persocom fell down suddenly and stood back up, sighing as he shook his head. “You’re so clueless, it’s borderline aggressive.”

“Clueless? Is that a good thing? A bad thing?”

“You really don’t understand anything, do you?”

Nino shook his head. “Nino doesn’t understand a lot of things. That’s why Satoshi’s teaching me.”

“Satoshi?”

Nino nodded his head vigorously and smiled as wide as he can. Just taking about Satoshi and even thinking about Satoshi made him happy. “Satoshi found Nino! He brought me to his room,” Nino explained. “Satoshi teachers Nino a lot of things!”

Just then, the door slowly swung open and a man came inside the room. He was much taller than Satoshi and skinnier too, and he wore thin glasses that rested on the bridge of his nose. The man stopped short and observed Nino from top to bottom.

“Ah! So you are the one,” the man said as he approached Nino with a smirk.

“I wonder what time it is,” Okamoto hummed as he sipped from his cup. It tasted faintly like iced green tea, but he liked it better when it was warm. Well, now at least he knew what iced green tea tasted like.

“It’s 9:46 and 20 seconds,” Mirei answered with a small smile and Okamoto muttered a short thanks.

“Satoshi must have gone quite far to look for Nino. After all, he lives much closer to this cafe than I do...”

They both turned slightly to their right when they noticed a someone rushing past the crowd. It didn’t take long for the both of them to recognize that it was Ohno running towards the cafe.

“He looks very intense,” Okamoto pointed out as he took another sip from his cup.

“He really is worried about Nino.”

Okamoto smiled knowingly as he watched the distressed Ohno coming closer towards the cafe. “That’s because he’s such a good guy.”

Meanwhile, Ohno could clearly see Okamoto and Mirei waving at him casually from the cafe. As soon as he met up with them, Okamoto held out another drink and Ohno gulped it down right away. He probably looked so desperate and crazy to them, but he couldn’t care less. He was exhausted and he had to talk to them about Nino no matter what. After he the last drop landed on his tongue, Chinen jumped onto the table and sat on the edge whilst Ohno took the empty seat opposite of the the pair.

Okamoto leaned in as if they were about to talk top-secret stuff. “Let’s get down to business. You’ve looked everywhere Nino might have gone, right?”

“I’ve checked around the apartment, his work, the neighborhood… yeah, everywhere!”

“I had Mirei do a quick search on the internet for mention of mysterious incidents, police reports, and online auctions involving any unlisted persocoms… but she didn’t turn up any leads.”

“I hope that Nino wasn’t in some kind of accident,” he mumbled quietly as he wiped a sweat trickling down his nose from his forehead.

“Then we must accept that his disappearance may be tied to whoever sent us those images,” Okamoto concluded, his face turning serious all of a sudden.

Ohno gasped. He could feel his fist tighten until his hands went numb. His worst fear came true and something bad might have happened to Nino...

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation..." Mirei paused off and glanced at Ohno and Okamoto before continuing. "...But would it be a nuisance if I spoke on this matter?"

"If there is anything you've noticed, please tell us!" Ohno insisted. He hoped that whatever Mirei was going to say would lead them closer to finding Nino.

"Of course, it's possible that this has something to do with those images that were sent to you, but there is one more place where people could have found out about Nino..." she turned her attention towards Okamoto. "If you'll remember, sir, you posted about Nino on a custom persocoms message board, did you not?"

“Who are you?” Nino asked the tall man standing a few feet away from the bed. The tall man looked friendly to him because he kept smiling at him as his eyes observed him from top to bottom.

“Hosoda Yoshihiko,” the man answered with a huge grin.

“Hosoda Yoshihiko,” Nino repeated after him to learn the man’s name.

“Yeah, but you can call me Yoshihiko,” he said and took a seat on the corner of the bed.

“Where… am I?”

“My room.”

“Yoshihiko’s room.”

Yoshihiko grinned. “That’s right.”

Nino pointed at the note-persocom standing in front of him. “This thing told me--”

“ “Thing?!” “ The note-persocom interrupted Nino in a rage. “How rude! I have a name, you know!”

Nino bent down in curiosity so he was at an eye level with the note-persocom. “What’s your name?”

The note-persocom grunted disapprovingly as he eyed Nino and took out a wire from his red colored ears. Then he walked towards the TV beside the bed, and plugged his wire in the front of the wire sockets. The TV turned on instantly and simple characters were displayed on the screen. It read Yamada.

“My name is Yamada, see!” The note-persocom pointed at the screen as he gave Nino and angry glare. “Got it?!”

“Yamada… Nino remembers. This thing is Yamada,” he pointed at the note-persocom, causing Yamada to rage in uproar again. Nino, however, didn’t understand why Yamada was mad at being called a thing when that’s how Satoshi sometimes calls Chinen a thing. So wouldn’t that make Yamada a thing too?

Yoshihiko laughed as he watched the exchange between the two. “You really have a lot to learn,” he told Nino.

“Did Yoshihiko kidnap Nino?” He asked the Yoshihiko when the man stopped laughing.

“Kidnap…? Yeah, I guess you could say that.”

Nino tilted his head to the side, wondering why Yoshihiko would want to do such a thing. “Why?”

“Because…” Yoshihiko moved closer, causing the bed to sink slightly from his and Nino’s weight, and brought his hand over to Nino’s soft hair. “...I wanted you, I guess.”

Meanwhile, Yamada watched the exchange between the two and he frowned when Yoshihiko admitted to wanting Nino. Something about it didn’t seem right at all, and it sounded plain creepy coming from Nino’s captive.

“You want Nino?” Nino asked, curious as to why the man wanted him when Satoshi already had him.

Yoshihiko nodded. “Ever since I read about you on the custom persocom message board, I couldn’t get you out of my mind,” he explained as he ran his hand through Nino’s hair. “If “O” had taken interest in you… I knew you had to be something special…

“You’re just like his description: ear units white on top and yellow on the bottom, hair the color of the night sky, and eyes like amber; the build of a 15 or 16-year-old boy.

“The moment I saw you in the bookstore… I knew that you were that persocom.

“I have to know who made you.”

“Nino… doesn’t know,” he lowered his head, remembering how Satoshi and Okamoto wanted to know who made him as well, but when he didn’t know, he felt bad for disappointing them.

“...Ah, yes. “O” mentioned in his posting that your memory seemed to have been reset,” Yoshihiko said. “Did the person who found you perform any system checks?”

“System checks?”

“Did he check your BIOS? Your CPU?”

Nino shook his head from side to side as he remembered how Satoshi barely knew how to work him, even if Satoshi had a book about persocoms. “Satoshi did not perform system checks. Satoshi does not know about persocoms.”

The man clicked his tongue. “I see… such a waste. You’re so special, I assumed your owner would keep you under close watch. I never expected to see you, so you can imagine how shocked I was to see the persocom “O” described all alone at the bookstore. The person who found your obviously has no idea what you’re worth.”

“What Nino is worth?”

The man smiled., “I did a little probing while you were resting.”

Yamada’s frown deepened and scowled when Yoshihiko pointed out that he had to look into Nino’s data. It was overwhelming and he wasn’t sure if he could handle the next system check if Yoshihiko asked for it.

“You’re a very special persocom. You really might be part of the “Chobits” series.”

“Nino… is a “Chobit?” “

“What’s a Nino?” The man asked in return.

“Satoshi named me that.”

“Why Nino?”

“Nino could only say Nino at first,” he explained, remembering back to the days when that was all he could say until Satoshi began teaching him many different words.

The man threw back his head as he laughed. “That sounds like a name you’d give a dog or a cat.”

Yamada turned his attention towards Nino when he noticed a distant look on Nino’s face. It seems as if he was offended with Yoshihiko’s comment about his name.

“Your Satoshi should have taken more time naming you,” Yoshihiko chuckled quietly as he patted Nino’s head.

“But--”

“I’ll look up what you really are,” Yoshihiko said and pulled his hand away from Nino as he stood back up. “If there’s anything you need, just let Yamada know… See you later.” With that said, Yoshihiko walked towards the door, opened it and closed it behind him.

Once the man was gone, Nino’s hands turned into balls of fists on his lap. He lowered his head and frowned slightly. When the man had talked bad about his name, it hurt him. “But… Satoshi chose “Nino.” Satoshi named Nino. That’s why Nino… likes being Nino.”

Yamada hmphed out loud and scowled at the persocom sitting in front of him. Although Nino was just a clueless persocom, he does know how special he is, especially when he noticed that showed the expression of being hurt. It was a first to see a persocom react that way… but he still scowled at his cluelessness.
