A/N:The plot will go exactly like the manga, but there will be some changes cause this is my story. I don't plan on making chobits seem weird. Just decided to share because it was my first manga that I came to love. If you don't wanna read this, then don't.
Fanfic Masterpost “ “Goodbye” means you can no longer be close… you can no longer see each other. Goodbyes are very painful,” Nino said as he closed his eyes and his twin sister was immediately standing in front of him. “Nino hurts right here,” he frowned as he placed his heart over his chest. He could feel something move within him, something painful that he couldn’t bear to hold.
“They took away your memories, but they could not remove the feelings,” Riisa said as she walked towards him and placed her hand on his chest. “You still remember the pain from before you became “Nino”.”
“Nino does not know about before… Nino only knows that it hurts here when someone says “goodbye.” “Goodbye” hurts. Not seeing each other hurts.”
“That’s right. Goodbyes do hurt. They hurt so much that we would do anything to avoid feeling that pain again,” Riisa said in a soft voice as she gently pulled him into a hug.

It was awfully quiet in the Ohno residence without the owner himself and Nino around. However, there were to laptop persocoms, sleeping ever so peacefully in their sleep mode. Until a laptop persocom named Chinen opened his eyes…
“Phone call! Ring! Ring! Ring!” He screamed and sung at the same time as he got up and ran around Yamada. “Phone call! Phone call! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!” Chinen looked around him for any signs of Ohno, but he wasn’t around. “No responses! I am forwarding you to voicemail!... Recording complete!”
Chinen ran towards Yamada who was now awake. Without warning, he pounced on him and leaned a bit closer so there was no space between them. Yamada blinked and stared at him with horror in his eyes and Chinen continued to grin widely.
“Wha… What is it?” Yamada stuttered nervously as he tried backing away from the horror.
Chinen pouted. “No applause?”
“Huh?”
“Applause! Chinen did work! Applause, please!”
The look of horror from Yamada’s face went away and was replaced with something like embarrassment. He shook his head as Chinen pulled himself off of him. “Wh-why me?” He mumbled as he tried avoiding eye contact with Chinen. However, he felt hands grab either of his cheeks and he was forced to face Chinen.
“Applause please!” Chinen exclaimed so enthusiastically with a huge grin on his face.
Yamada was too shocked to respond correctly that he ended up clapping his hand as Yamada continued to stare at him in horror. The moment Chinen let him go, shouting “yay!” all over the room, Yamada let out a sigh of relief and turned to no one in particular. “Oh my God, and I thought Nino was as nutty as they come… all Satoshi’s ‘coms are insane! Gah!”
“Never fear, Chinen is here!” Chinen laughed as he brought his arms around Yamada for a hug.
Yamada, however, tried pushing him off but for some reason the hyper laptop was so strong. “Get off of me!” he yelled desperately, but the laptop refused to listen to him.
As if luck was in his side, the doorknob of the front door was turning around. Chinen immediately released him, but he held onto his hand.
“Master’s come home!” Chinen bursted in happiness as he dragged Yamada to the front door. “Now! Together on three! One… Two… Three!” The door opened then. “Welcome ho--!”
Chinen stop immediately as soon as he saw another person walk behind their master. It was a girl and she had tears streaming down her face.
“You have a guest, master?” Chinen asked.
“Yeah. Chinen, would you and Yamada mind staying on mute for a while.”
Chinen bowed proudly in front of his master. “Yes, sir!” With that said, he dragged Yamada across the room once more and both of them hopped on top of the TV to sit down. Once they were settled, the both of them went into mute mode so they wouldn’t interrupt whatever was about to happen.
“Here,” Ohno handed Inoue a pink light blue bath towel after making a short trip from the bathroom. “You can use this to wipe away your tears.” He would have given her something else, like a box of tissues, but he ran out last week. Though to his relief, Inoue immediately accepted it and covered her face with the towel.
“I’m sorry, I’m acting kind of weird, aren’t I?” Ohno asked immediately, assuming that Inoue must have covered her face because he gave her a bath towel.
“That’s not it… You’re so nice…” Inoue brought the towel down a bit so Ohno could see her eyes. She was still crying and he didn’t regret giving her a towel at all anymore. Still, he wanted to comfort her.
“Like I said, I used to work at Chiroru,” Inoue began as she clutched the towel to her chest. “Right after you left, Satoshi, there was a help wanted sign on the window. He hired me right away. Manager Matsumoto was such a good person. Even though baking wasn’t my job, he’d teach me his tricks for making cakes and cookies whenever he had time.”
Ohno recalled the time when Inoue had given him a bag of cookies. Oh, man they tasted so good. “So all those cookies and treats you made for me were things you learned from Jun?
Inoue nodded her head with a small smile as if talking about it brought good memories. “He was such a kind and gentle person, and it showed in everything he did. The only things he couldn’t handle were the register and his accounts. It was so cute to see him blush whenever he gave somebody change. And then… And then… I fell in love with him.”
The tears came out faster as if claiming her love for Jun was a bad thing. “But no matter how adorable he was, he was an adult and I was just some kid working a part-time job. I thought there was no way… but… but… I really liked him… About nine months are I started working there, I finally got up the nerve to tell him.
Inoue explained about how on the day she finally confessed, Jun had blushed so deeply that he almost resembled a tomato. Inoue was about to laugh at him and point it out, but then Jun cleared his throat and said the most unexpected thing ever: he said he loves her too. She had been so happy and immediately became flustered, not caring about how she was embarrassing herself at the moment. Just the fact that Jun felt the same way made her feel on top of the world, and the fact that he pointed out the dress she was wearing was especially made for her because he felt the same way. However, when he had implied that he was married… things changed. She didn’t want to ask him directly because he gave that saddened look where he couldn’t bear to talk about it. So she researched on her own in the internet and found two videos.
“Could I ask you to do a search on the internet now?” Inoue asked as she turned her head towards the two laptop persocoms.
“Oh, yeah, sure. Chinen, you can do an internet search, can’t you?”
“Can I ever!” Chinen grinned arrogantly.
“Do a search on “Matsumoto Jun”... “Bakery”... and “Chiroru,” “ Inoue suggested.
“There are 252 matches.”
“Out of those… how many also include the word “marriage?” “
“158 matches.”
“Do any of those have video clips?”
“Yes. There are two matches.”
“Do you mind if I have him play it back on your TV?”
“Can you do that?” Ohno asked obliviously towards Chinen who had already pulled out a wire from his hat.
“Yes, master.”
It was just like he had done to Nino, but it was easier this time because he knew where to plug it in. As soon as the wire was plugged in, he turned the TV on and a play button was displayed on the screen.
“Beginning playback,” Chinen mumbled and he zoned out at the same time the screen changed.
The focus was immediately on Jun who was wearing a white suit. Beside him was a beautiful persocom who wore a white gown. Both of them had such happy looks on their faces as if nothing in the world could stop them. Even the people around them gave them such a loving look and everyone looked as happy as the newlywed couple. Just then, a TV reporter stepped in and held out a microphone in front of the newlywed couple.
“Did you have any reservations about marrying your persocom, Matsumoto-san?”
“Well, I suppose… a little.”
“Would you say that your reservations were more on moral grounds, or in regards to the way you would be perceived by others?”
Jun blushed and shook his hand in front of him. “N-no! It was nothing like that! It wasn’t my feelings I was worried about.”
“Was your family against it?”
“No.”
“Then what was the problem?”
“It’s just that, I wasn’t sure that I could make her happy. But then I thought there are so many types of couples in the world.” Jun reached out for the persocom and they held onto each other so lovingly as they stared into each other’s eyes. “Even if this one is a little different from the rest, we care about each other so much that I know we can find happiness together, little by little…”
“Oh, what am I saying!” Jun blushed and covered his face. “I’m sorry! I guess I didn’t answer any of your questions!”
He kept on blabbing on and on about something uninteresting until his wife smiled and stood on her tip toes. Without a warning, she placed a chaste kiss on Jun’s cheek and the man immediately closed his mouth as the blush on his face darkened.
The video stopped there. “Now playing the second clip.”
The mirth had gone. It was raining and the skies were dark and gray. There were a crowd of reporters surrounding Jun, the only person who refused to use an umbrella. Yet he seemed so unfazed by all this as he slowly made his way to a shrine where the resting body of his wife was placed.
“So a car accident has closed the curtain on your marriage to a persocom!” A reporter screamed through the clamor of the rain and people alike. “How does it feel?”
“The driver has said that the persocom pushed you out of the way. Does this mean that you owe your life to a persocom?!” Another reporter asked so shamelessly.
“Do you plan to buy a newer model next time?”
“Are you thinking of marrying another persocom?!”
The questions kept on coming without a stop, just like the rain that poured down on Jun.
“A lot of people these days have been holding funerals for their persocoms… what are you going to do with the remains? Are you going to cremate your persocom or throw it away?”
“She’s not… an “it.” “ Jun finally spoke, but he refused to look at anything but the floor. Although it was raining hard, there were tears streaming down his face and came down hard like the never ending rain.
“What?”
“My wife… has a name. Please, don’t lump her in with the others.I gave her a name… she smiled and told me she liked it. Her name is… Mao.”
The TV screen turned absolutely black and Ohno couldn’t help but stare at the TV with disbelief. “Mao…” he mumbled.
“You saw how serious Manager Matsumoto was!” Inoue cried harder and clutched onto the towel like it was her life. “He loved her enough to marry her, no matter what anyone else thought! She was beautiful, smart… and she gave up her life to protect him! She even has the same name as me! She was a persocom, I’m just a human… how can I compete with that?!”
Ohno didn’t know what to say, or even where to begin. Instead, he just sat there, giving Inoue a sympathetic look and wished that he could console her somehow.
“I… I’m sorry…” Inoue hiccuped as she dabbed her face with the towel. “I get jealous… I say things I don’t mean. I can’t help it… everything I do is based on my moods. I lie… I’ve probably hurt a lot of people because… I’m human!”
Ohno frowned. Being human was completely different and he started thinking of Nino. For a while now, he had been treating Nino like a human. Then again, Nino didn’t have moods, he can’t lie unless you tell him to, and he doesn’t even cry. Nino was perfect in that way because he didn’t have those things, making him less vulnerable. Even with this little insight, he understood now what Inoue was feeling. This world of technology was just so cruel...
