Fanfic Masterpost ++++++++++
Jun lifted his arm in the air until his fist was blocking the light on the man’s face. Jun just didn’t care anymore as his life wasn’t worth living. But this man before him was just some stranger, and it angered him how in the end he won every single fight he fought. His fists were trembling badly like it was winter in the middle of summer. Slowly, he pushed his arm forward, but without force that his fist landed softly on the man’s face. If only it was raining, then his tears will become part of the Earth...
Jun woke up uncomfortably as he sat up and cracked all the tense bones in his body. He remembered everything last night, that man he beat up, and the police running towards him with angry looks on their faces. They should have just locked him up instead of laying his body down their couch, just besides the door where he could easily escape. However, Jun stayed put as he waited for whatever consequences the officers were going to give him.
“Matsumoto Jun-san, right?” A police officer whose face was so broad he looked like those fake G.I. Joe toys.
“Yeah,” he grunted as he lifted his back from the back rest.
“We contacted someone last night who will pick you up in a couple of minutes. Also, this is your first warning. If you ever get into any more fights, the law won’t forgive you,” the officer looked down on him before looking at his clipboard. “You know you have to pay for that man’s hospitals bills since you nearly killed him last night.”
“I know,” Jun sighed, “I’ll drop by tonight.”
“Alright. Otherwise, live a better life for the sake of Japan’s citizens,” he mumbled before walking off and leaving him all alone again.
“Oh God, I came as soon as I got the phone call,” Someone with a nasally voice came running through the door. “Where is he?! Is he really getting charged?”
“Yes, for fraud and attempting to murder your friend,” the female officer at the front desk informed him.
“Well, where is he?! Where’s Ohno?”
“He’s at the hospital at the moment resting. I’m afraid he still haven’t woken up.”
“WHAT?!” The man yelled causing the other officers to turn their head towards him.
“Sir, please calm down. Here,” she handed him a clipboard with a bunch of paperwork Jun didn’t have to work on, “Fill this in. As soon as you finish it, we’ll look into it and we’ll let you know after an hour.”
“Fine, but I want to see that bastard in jail. He doesn’t deserve to live.”
Then it became quiet again. The flustered man took the clipboard and sat on the same couch since it was the only one there. It was small too, so they shared limited space that Jun was able to take a small glimpse of what the man was writing. He found out his name was Ninomiya Kazunari after the man had filled the guardian box, and his friend, the victim, whose name was Ohno Satoshi.
“Are you interested in everything I write,” the man mumbled while he continued to write a bunch of information down.
“Uh, sorry. I didn’t mean--”
“Jun!” A loud breathy voice interrupted him. “Are you ok?! Are you hurt anywhere?! Come here and let me take care of you!”
“Masaki,” Jun gritted his teeth, “Please, not here now. There are people...”
“I don’t care!” his friend pouted who came floating by his side, “I don’t like seeing Jun hurt.”
“I know,” he sighed, “but can we go out now? I want to go home.”
“Not yet, I still have to fill out paperwork. And then, we can go out.”
Jun didn’t say anything else as he let his friend do what he’s supposed to do. He realized that the man besides him was still very visible, and he still hadn’t stated his reason yet. But it didn’t look like the man cared as he wrote furiously on the paper. Instead, Jun waited for his only friend to come back with a satisfied smile on his face.
What seemed like forever, Aiba finally came back at the same time the man besides him turned his paperwork in and left. He felt relieved when he saw that same smile that urged him to become friends with him a long time ago when he was always so down. This time, however, the smile only worked for a few seconds when he was reminded of someone.
“Jun...”
He faked a smile, and turned around so his friend couldn’t see how red his eyes were becoming. He told himself many times that he should just forget him, and he never existed. But seeing Aiba...he just reminded him of that man. Without another word, Jun took a step aside and headed out with Aiba following closely behind him.
“I’ll drop you off,” Aiba informed him, “Do you want me to stay?”
“No, please. Just... go back to work,” he told him though he wanted his company. He just didn’t want to be a burden to him since he depended on him for more than once. Jun was starting to think he was a bad friend.
The trip to his apartment was short even though the police station was a 20min walk to his house. He was thankful that his friend was there for him instead of his parents. After giving his friend a quick hug, they both departed and he headed to his own little hole.
His place was messy and he hasn’t bothered to clean up. It’s not like he needed to since there was no one to share his place with anyways. Despite how nice and breezy the day was, Jun let his body fall on his couch and went to sleep to get rid of the pain.
It was barely a few minutes when he was starting to fall asleep when he heard banging sounds, and then that annoying beeping sound of a truck. He grabbed the pillows on the couch and used it to cover his ears. When that didn’t work, he retired to his room but that only made it worse. Instead of getting a nice nap, Jun lazily stood up and dragged his feet outside to the hallway.
“Excuse me,” a man dressed in red grumbled. Jun moved aside and figured that someone was moving in besides him. Who in the world had the right to disrupt him?
“Oh, it’s you!”
Jun frowned. That voice sounded so familiar, like he just heard it a while ago.
“Aren’t you going to greet me? We are neighbors now.”
“Who-” Jun turned around and saw it was the same man from the police station. He had a smirk on his face, and for some reason, he felt embarrassed. It must have been when he got caught to looking at his paperwork.
“I believe you already know me,” he continued talking, “what’s your name?”
Jun raised an eyebrow. This man was really rude like he treated him as an enemy. Instead of introducing himself, he turned around and headed back inside of his apartment. Though the noise was still very audible, he was able to sleep without worry...
“You know,” he slurred as he pointed his index finger towards the bartender, “I...I should have been... I was...t-there f-for him when he... you know?”
The bartender only grunted in reply to his broken sentences. This angered Jun more that he stood up and threw the glass towards the other end of the room. He could feel people’s eyes on him which only instigated his violent nature.
“Wha you lookin’ at?!” Jun yelled as he came lunging towards a couple. “You-you think you can be...happy when I’m not!”
“Sir, please, you’re scaring my wife.”
“I don’t giveafuck!” He cursed. “You know in a few years...” He started laughing and pointed at the trembling woman, “...he’s...he’s going to l-leave you too.”
“And all of you!” Jun turned around so he was facing everyone who was staring at him, “Life is shit! It’s worthless! All of you--”
“I’m so sorry,” he heard someone apologize. “My friend, he... he’s not in his right mind right now. I’ll pay for everything.”
“Wha are you doing here, Ninomiya Kazunari?” Jun staggered slowly towards his new neighbor. “I’m nah your friend...”
“I’m sorry,” the man ignored him, “We’ll be leaving now.”
The next thing that happened was Jun grabbing a couple of glass, and threw it on the ground. He stared at it for a while like it was the most interesting thing in the world. As he stared at it, he can see the reflection of himself. He felt like he didn’t know who that man was in that reflection anymore. As he slowly looked up, he saw a worried look on his neighbor’s face before punching him lightly and falling head first to the floor.
“Ugh... what happened?” he groaned as he sat up. He was in his room, but he didn’t remember walking to his place. Aiba must have taken him home after receiving a phone call, but his friend usually dozed in his room, sometimes on the floor, to stay with him till the next day. However, he was nowhere to be seen, and his bed was empty.
“Masaki?” he called for his friend, hoping that his face would pop out from behind the opened doorway. “Masaki?” he repeated again when there was no respond. Worried, he took a step out of his bed, ignoring the pain, and walked to the bathroom. His friend would have been in there to, doing something he didn’t want to imagine.
“Masaki?” He called out again like an owner worried that his dog was missing. “Masaki?”
“I’m sorry, were you expecting your hyper friend from yesterday?”
Jun stopped in his tracks when he heard footsteps behind him getting closer. For one thing, when he was drunk, he always got into fights but he never, ever brings people home except for his friend. Slowly turning around, in place of a murderer, was his rude neighbor.
“What are you doing here?” He narrowed his eyes as the man’s lips curved into a smirk.
“What do you mean, what am I doing here? You allowed me to stay here last night after I saved you from going to the police again?”
“No I didn’t,” came the quick reply, “I would never allow you.”
“Apparently, you did. You thought I was your friend... Masaki was it? Anyways, I cleaned your apartment.”
After hearing the last four words, his eyes rolled out of his eyes. His neighbor was no more part of his concern when he looked around and saw that it was spotless clean. Everything that he left behind was gone, and some were stacked away on top of his coffee table that he forgot was there. Everything, even his clothes were gone.
“What. Did. You. Do?”
“I clea-”
“Who the fuck told you to?!” Jun yelled, still not moving from his spot.
“Well I-”
“Just...get the fuck out of here. I don’t want to see your face, or anything about you.”
“But it nee-”
“Just... GET OUT!”
The latter didn’t respond first but when he raised his fist, he heard rapid footsteps making their way to the door. When the door was shut, Jun rushed to the trash bags besides the kitchen trashcan, glad that he didn’t throw it out yet. Without thinking, Jun clawed at the plastic until it finally ripped open. The contents inside poured out and he grabbed them and threw it everywhere on the floor. It didn’t matter where as long as they were all present.
He promised himself he wouldn’t cry anymore, but he couldn’t hold it in while his hands trembled from picking up every single item. As the tears came out, his hands became worse making it harder for him to pick them out. Every single one of them reminded him of that person he shared his love with. All his things, and his, that they use together was too much to handle. Standing up, he grabbed a trash bag from his drawers and put all of it back. Maybe it was for the best to forget about him.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized to him even though he knew he will never see him again. With that said, Jun picked up everything off the floor, including the trash bag he harshly opened. Once everything was inside, he grabbed the trash bags, and headed out to the back of the apartment complex. He ignored his rude neighbor who was standing beside his doorway. He was aware that the man followed him, but that wasn’t his main concern.
Standing in front of the huge trash, he wondered if he was doing the right thing. He thrust his arm towards the direction of the open hole. It was as if the hole was a huge mouth, in his mind, it was telling him to feed it with his trash. However, Jun staggered back and trembled when he realized what he was doing. He was ready to turn back with the trash in his possession, but the rude neighbor stood in his way. Jun didn’t want to fight any longer, so he had no choice but to turn back around. Thrusting his arms forward again, he closed his eyes and dropped them into the hungry hole. There were no words exchanged as the two of them headed inside the building.
Jun left his door open and he heard it close when his rude neighbor came in. He moved to his kitchen and actually went to the trouble of making tea instead of letting the guest do it themselves. Once the tea was finished, he placed the cup and a small bowl of sugar cubes on a tray, and walked to his living room.
He never really paid attention to other people, but this man was budging into his life since he saw him in the police station. First he moved in the same apartment, the same floor, and even next to him. Then he was the one who took him away from the bar instead of his friend, Aiba. Then he stayed in his apartment instead of staying in his that was just three steps from the front of his apartment door. Then he cleaned out his apartment, and stopped him from being stuck in the past. As he walked over to the man sitting on his now clean couch, he wondered if he was someone sent from the heavens.
“Here,” Jun put the cup in front of him before taking a seat. He didn’t want to start the conversation, not that he had anything to say, so he sipped his tea instead.
When silence still took the better of them, Jun’s eyes wandered around but he avoided looking at the man in the eyes. He realized how big his apartment was now that all those things, he used to call treasures, were gone. He tried to avoid looking at the man, but his eyes landed on the man’s face in the end. He didn’t know how long he was staring at him until he felt eyes on him.
“And again your looking, but at me this time.”
Jun felt like his cheeks were going hot, even though the tea was already cold. Embarrassed that he was caught, Jun looked away and almost choked on his drink when his neighbor scooted in closer.
“I don’t mean to be such a tease, but I think Jun-san is good looking.”
This time, Jun really choked on his drink. The tea was splattered everywhere on his jeans and he could feel the liquid moving uncomfortably in his nose. This was all too absurd, and Jun wasn’t ready for this. He still needed time to forgive and forget. With this man, who was now sitting so close, it made it harder for him to swallow.
Carefully and slowly, Jun inched away from the man until his body was practically on the ground. When a shadow overcast him, he closed his eyes unable to do anything. He expected the man to pounce on him since he was pretty vulnerable at the moment. Instead, he heard a soft chuckle coming from the man.
Opening an eye, he saw that he was no longer standing over him. He heard soft footsteps at his doorstep and realized that he was getting ready to leave. Standing up, Jun rushed over to the door and saw that the man was already waiting for him.
“I was just kidding. Thanks for the tea, I’m going to visit my friend,” he winked and did a two finger salute. “I’ll be seeing you soon, neighbor.”
Jun didn’t greet him on the way out. Instead, he was left dumbstruck, standing on his doorstep. He remained standing there, dazed and confused when he heard the doorbell ring loudly. He didn’t answer the first time until he heard mumbling outside his door.
“Jun?! Are you there? Please tell me you’re there…”
The worried voice of his friend worried him also so he finally moved and opened the door. Aiba wasn’t moving either, his face was showing worry that he didn’t realize that the door was already open for him.
“Masaki, what brings you here?”
“Oh, Jun! Thank God you’re alive!” His friend yelled as he opened his arms wide and attacked him with his breathtaking hugs. When Aiba was done taking most of his life out of him, he pushed the man off of him and told him to sit himself down the couch.
“Was somebody here? There’s two cups on the table…”
Jun had forgotten about that. He was too busy being confused with his strange neighbor. There were no excuses to come up with, but he didn’t have to when he heard his friend yelp.
“Jun! Your place is clean! How-“
“Ok, someone stopped by and helped me clean, ok? Just stop it.”
“Was it that guy who just came out? I saw someone earlier…”
“Yeah, he’s my new neighbor.”
“Oh, I see. He’s one of them let’s-get-to-know-each-other-more-so-things-won’t-be-awkward kind of guy.”
Jun nodded his head, although his friend’s assumption was completely wrong. Despite Aiba being a really close friend, he had a loud mouth and he didn’t want to tell him the whole truth.
The two chatted for a while and he learned from Aiba that there was this reunion for all the people who graduated in their year for high school. Jun thought that it wasn’t worth going to, but he knew Aiba liked to go to parties and mingle with the rest of the people. Feeling guilty that he had done nothing but depend on him, he agreed to escort his good friend to the reunion.
He was told then that it was tonight and he hadn’t even gotten everything prepared. After getting rid of his friend, he walked to his closet and saw the only tuxedo he ever owned in his life. Seeing that thing made him want to puke all over it. He didn’t even have the strength to remember so instead, he picked it up by the hanger and threw it away. The reunion was still in a couple of hours so he took this time to groom himself for once.
He visited every store that didn’t remind him of that man who broke his heart. Instead of going to his favorite store, he went somewhere far off and bought a tuxedo that he’s sure would look good on him. After buying all the necessities, Jun went to the hair salon and picked out a new hairstyle for himself.
Jun had no idea why he was suddenly up and moving around when he’s would be at the bar at this time of the day. Instead, he was sitting in front of the mirror, asking the stylist to cut his hair for the first time in a long time. When the lady finished, he was satisfied with what the woman had given him. He told her something fresh and something that could catch people’s eyes. Sure enough his hair was in a way that even he didn’t know his hair was so brown and smooth looking.
Finally, he was finished and all he had to do was put on his suit. After doing so, he called Aiba to pick him up and received weird glares when he told his friend to come in his apartment. He hadn’t received those looks in a long time, and he was starting to feel like cleaning himself up was a bad idea.
“Do I look stupid?” he asked him, his bottom lip trembling slightly.
“…”
“Yeah, I look stupid. You know what, I’ll just-“
“Jun! Stop,” his friend pulled him back to keep him from going to the bathroom, “I was just… but you…Oh my gosh, that hair…”
“I know, I look terrible,” he pouted, “Let me-“
“No, that’s not what I meant at all! I mean, you look like you had been having better days, my friend! Are you… starting to forget?”
Jun nodded his head as his pout turned into a smile. He was glad Aiba still stuck besides him and continued to support him even if he tried to push him off of his shoulders. However there was one more thing that was bothering him. Telling his friend to wait for him, he rushed to his room and took that one picture frame on his bedside table. He didn’t even look at the two people smiling happily in the picture as he grabbed it, and threw it in the trash bin. With a satisfied smile, Jun headed out with his friend to try and have a good time.
Upon arriving at their old high school, Jun was suddenly filled with memories of the place. There were all good times spent with his good friend, and some bad times he didn’t bother to remember. After Aiba parked the car, Jun got out first, followed by his friend, and both of them headed to where it was going to take place. It just felt like yesterday they graduated when they walked towards the school and used the familiar pathways to the destination.
It was the same as back then. The outside of the gym was still as crappy as it can get with all the dried leaves, and wet mud. He didn’t have time to observe when Aiba pulled him and they were both inside the gym.
The music was pumping, the people were talking, and everyone was just having a good time. He spotted some people he remembered though he doubted they remembered him since he only talked to them once. Jun was too busy looking around and when he looked to his right, his friend had disappeared. Worried that someone had taken him, he went on his tippy toes and searched the crowd. He could see a light brown hair floating in the middle of the crowd, and he knew his friend was just trying to get to the food.
He felt like a parent stuck with and adult who had a brain of a child. But his friend has always been like that, and he didn’t hate him for it. Rolling his eyes, he squished through the crowd until finally, he caught up to him.
Like usual, he was already taking a plate full of food. His mouth was already red as if he had drunk all the red juice, and his eyes were hungry for everything he’s seeing. Jun was about to stop him when someone tapped his shoulder.
“Neighbor! I didn’t expect to find you here!”
“Hey,” Jun greeted him though he kept his eyes looking everywhere once he realized who it was.
“You went to this high school too?”
Jun nodded his head, his eyes going to his feet.
“Well, I have something to show you. Come here.”
“But my friend he-“
“Don’t worry, I had a chat with Aiba-san already and he said yeah as long as I didn’t hurt you.”
Jun didn’t get to question him when he was dragged away from his friend. He swore he saw him wink, but came to a conclusion that it was just his imaginations. Slowly, he felt himself being taken away from the crowd when he just barely got to the party. He didn’t even get to greet the hosts who had kindly put all of this together.
When he felt the dragging ended, he bumped into the man’s smaller frame and both of them fell to the floor. Jun groaned in pain as he sat up and caressed his head. After feeling a bit better, he felt his shoulder being tugged and he saw that his neighbor was lying on his back comfortably. He did the same and was wondering why he took him out in the middle of nowhere. It was pitch black, but the moon was shining down on them. It was nothing but plants and animals making lots of sounds.
“This place, I always go here when I feel like the world is being so cruel to me, you know?”
Jun shook his head. He didn’t even know this place existed just outside of school.
“When I’m feeling down, I even cry or scream at the world. But today, I’m more than happy.”
“And why is that?” Jun asked him curiously.
“Because I met someone, and I think I’ve fallen in love.”
“Ok…”
“And he’s here with me, right now.”
“O-Wait, what?” Jun sat up again, and finally he looked him in the eyes. This man had gone completely crazy and he just wasn’t making any more sense.
“Do you want me to show you?”
“Show, ho-“
Jun’s eyes grew large when he felt soft skin on his lips. He hadn’t felt one in a long time ever since his heart was harshly broken into two. Surprisingly, he didn’t pull back.
“I know you just had you heart broken,” the man sighed after breaking apart from the awkward kiss, “But I couldn’t help myself. Ever since I saw you at the police station, everything changed for me.”
“…”
“I know what you’re thinking that I’m some crazy lunatic guy who just came in and barged in your life. But I don’t want to be that guy in your mind. I want to be the one who love you first and was the person that didn’t leave you.”
“…”
“But I understand if you don’t like me back. I won’t give up on you even if you--“
Jun wasn’t in his right mind. As if his words swept him off his feet, he grabbed the man’s head and pulled him in so his lips were touching his. This feeling, this weird new feeling, was slowly creeping into his heart as he pulled him even closer and wrapped his arm around his body. He kissed him oh, so passionately as he pushed him down the green grass. He looked into his eyes and saw nothing but faith and love in his eyes. Smiling down at him, he bent even closer and closer until their lips met again. Maybe his neighbor wasn't so bad at all.
"My name is Matsumoto Jun, by the way," he snickered, remembering that he too was rude to him.
"Yeah. I already knew that," He laughed along with him. "Now come here and give me a kiss."
