So the moment Kyuhyun saw me, he smiled and waved. I smiled and waved him back, then went straight to my locker. Then I saw Kyuhyun going to his locker, which it’s just 5 columns away from mine.
“Hi,” Kyuhyun smiled. “How are you?”
Wait, is he asking me how I am? Did something good happen? Oh yeah, he told Ryeowook to break up with his boyfriend.
“I’m fine, and you?” I asked.
“I’m fine as well. You know, I don’t think he will break up with that dude.”
“Why not? I mean, you wrote me saying that Yesung likes another guy…”
“You will see that he won’t,” said Kyuhyun, lying back on the lockers.
At the end of the day, we realized that Ryeowook wanted to break up with Yesung, but then, he couldn’t. Yesung had been evading Ryeowook’s looks the whole day, making the latter surrender.
Later that night, Kyuhyun and I were chatting about Ryeowook. I didn’t even know how we went from games to Ryeowook seriously.
Lee Sungmin said:
So what are you going to do then?
I mean, he didn’t break up with Yesung.
Kyuhyun said:
I know, but I have the faith that he will someday.
Lee Sungmin said:
Ooooooooooookay, whatever you say :O
Few days later, Kyuhyun, Heechul, Hankyung and I were in a group for this project. As always, it was due next day, we never did things earlier. So we went to Hankyung’s house and try to finish it up. But then Kyuhyun told me that he had to leave earlier because Ryeowook told him to stay after school. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth going back to school because, who are we kidding? it was Ryeowook who told him that.
“So are you going to a ‘school date’? I asked Kyuhyun when only he and I were the only ones working on the project. Heechul and Hankyung disappeared out of nowhere.
“Yup, I am,” Kyuhyun replied happily.
“Well, good luck then.”
After Kyuhyun left, I still worked on the project just because I couldn’t see Heechul and Hankyung anywhere. As soon as I finished doing my part, I saw Heechul and Hankyung kissing on a sofa.
“Ahem, I’m gonna go now, I finished my job without you guys, bye!” I left Hankyung’s house quickly.
As soon as I went inside my house, the person I wanted to talk least sent me a message.
To: Sungmin
From: Kyuhyun
You know what, nothing happened.
I just cheered silently in my head because of the news.
To: Kyuhyun
From: Sungmin
Tell me… what did you do in school then?
To: Sungmin
From: Kyuhyun
We just spent like 5 mins there, and then he had to go.
To: Kyuhyun
From: Sungmin
Awww, I’m sorry for that.
To: Sungmin
From: Kyuhyun
Oh well, I’ll talk to him tomorrow.
The next day, Hankyung took our project unfinished. Kyuhyun obviously, saw it and shrugged.
“I think we need to finish it or we will get an F,” I said looking at Kyuhyun.
So I went to Heechul, told him about our unfinished project, and he just made a face like he didn’t care. I was about to explode, but Kyuhyun appeared behind me and took the project. I thought he would do something, but he was just looking at it. Great, now all he will do is stare.
I spent my whole day worrying over the stupid project that I decided to do something on it. But then, I felt all this frustration of making the entire project by myself, so I went to Heechul.
“Heechul, could you please help me? I’m tired you don’t want to do anything.”
Heechul just put that face of I-don’t-wanna-do-it, but held his hand so I can give him the project. I handed him the project and went off to take out things from my locker.
At the end, we got an A+ for a really clean work. I was happy that I could finally be in peace, somehow.
Weeks after weeks, all my classes were boring. Then, my school decided to give us one week off since all weather men warned us about a storm coming to our country. They were wrong; it was all shiny. I spent the whole week in my house, doing nothing. My mom and dad working, while I stayed in my house, bored as ever.
On Thursday, I went to beach with my parents. My parents went to play golf in this mini golf resort, while I went to swim. Since I was bored, I didn’t swim much and went to read a book until they appeared and went back home.
On Sunday, I broke down. My father died in an accident. A bus fell on top of his car and made such an impact on his head. My mom was lifeless when she received the news, I was praying to God that my dad would be alright; I wasn’t back to reality. Soon after my mom told me that we were going to his funeral, I came back to reality and fell my legs weaken.
All my friends knew what happened and came to support me in the funeral.
My mom decided that it would be better to burn his body to conserve his ashes. I cried when people pushed his body into the burner.
I didn’t go to school for 1 week, feeling empty for the first time. Donghae and Shindong would come and see me. They would try to cheer me up, but I would be in the same state.
When I went to school for the first time since my dad’s death, all the people were telling me that they would help me in anything I ask them. Donghae was with me for the whole day, hugging me in case I break down again.
One morning, Kyuhyun sat next to me, and all I did was to cry again.
“I didn’t see his face before he left,” I told him, sobbing.
“I’m sorry, but you know what, he’s in a better place. I understand you because I passed through the same thing,” Kyuhyun told me, looking at me.
“I- I… I just…” and I couldn’t say anything anymore
“I’ll always be there for you,” Kyuhyun whispered to my ear and hugged me.
