Sungmin and Kyuhyun were best friends since middle school. No matter what, they always stuck together, and people always wondered if they were a real couple or not. Of course it’s not their fault to think that way; Sungmin had a really delicate, cute face that anyone could mistake him for a girl if not for his short hair and school’s pants, while Kyuhyun had that sexy face that could make any girl’s heart flutter. So seeing how close they were plus the looks, anyone could get the wrong idea. However, that changed when they reached high school.
“Kyu, do you want to eat with my girlfriend and I?” Sungmin asked during class, 5 minutes before lunch. “She doesn’t mind if you join us.”
“Min, you already got a girlfriend after the breakup 1 week ago? You must be kidding me,” Kyuhyun said, taking notes of whatever the teacher had written on the board.
“But Kyu, she asked me, and being the nice person, I told her yes,” Sungmin pouted.
“I think you told her yes because you can’t get over your ex girlfriend, am I right?” Kyuhyun stopped writing and turned his full body to look back at Sungmin, who had a sad expression on his face. “Sorry… I shouldn’t have said that.”
Sungmin just punched Kyuhyun lightly and smiled to assure his friend that he was alright. “So you want to eat with us or not?”
“Sorry Min, I have a council meeting to attend during lunch.”
“Oh, it’s alright, we can eat tomorrow together,” Sungmin smiled, and as soon as the bell rang, he dashed out of the classroom to meet his new girlfriend.
Kyuhyun just sighed and went to the rooftop; he lied to Sungmin about the meeting because honestly, he didn’t want to see Sungmin smiling to another person than him. For half a year, he had a crush on Sungmin, but he couldn’t bring himself to confess his feelings to the latter because one, like if he wasn’t obvious getting girlfriends, he liked girls. And two, he didn’t want to ruin his friendship with him. Plus, he was alright with consoling his friend whenever a breakup happened.
1 week ago, Sungmin had told Kyuhyun that he was going on a date with his girlfriend. It turns out that they went to an aquarium because he happened to see the breakup there. He wasn’t stalking them or anything; he took his little cousin there because his cousin liked fishes. After the breakup, he walked towards his best friend and gave a tight hug. Sungmin lost it; he let his tears flow freely despite people looking at them. He didn’t care as long as he was with Kyuhyun.
Now here he was, looking at Sungmin talking happily with his new girlfriend, as if the breakup was nothing. He couldn’t bear it anymore, he wanted to forget that feeling and just stay as friends, but obviously being together for a long time has its effects.
Soon, Sungmin starts to detach himself from Kyuhyun slowly just to spend more time with his girlfriend, and Kyuhyun makes “watching Sungmin from the rooftop” his habit.
“What are you doing here, Kyuhyun?” Ryeowook asks as soon as he steps on the rooftop. “Aren’t you supposed to be in a meeting?”
“How do you know about the meeting?” Kyuhyun turns to look at Ryeowook then Sungmin again.
“I heard from Henry that Sungie has a meeting at lunch. You are the president so you should go…”
“Alright, I will go.” Kyuhyun was about to walk inside but stopped in his track. “How did you know I was here?”
“Oh, I saw you walking towards this direction, so I thought you were here,” Ryeowook answered then smiled to prove that he was saying the truth.
With that, Kyuhyun nodded and walked towards the meeting while Ryeowook stayed to look at what Kyuhyun was looking. He saw Sungmin having a heated discussion with his girlfriend.
One day, Sungmin was not seen on the usual spot with his girlfriend, so Kyuhyun decided to look after him. Sungmin was hidden in the male bathroom where no one seemed to go because of how far it was from everything else.
“Sungmin, I know you are there; I can hear your sobs. Open the door please,” Kyuhyun said knocking on the door impatiently.
Sungmin stopped crying and opened the door. As soon as he got out of the cubicle, he hugged Kyuhyun tightly and cried again.
“I-I don’t… have... a girlfriend anymore,” Sungmin muffled through Kyuhyun’s soaked shirt. “She said,” Sungmin stood back to look at Kyuhyun, “that I talk too much about you.”
Kyuhyun was shocked to hear that he was the reason for a breakup, but happy to hear that Sungmin talked about him a lot to his now ex-girlfriend.
“You will see she will run to you and ask to go back together,” Kyuhyun said, patting his friend’s back.
“I-I don’t think so, Kyu,” Sungmin responded as he moved back to look at Kyuhyun with teary eyes. “Whenever this guy passes in front of us, she doesn’t pay any attention to me.”
Kyuhyun takes Sungmin’s tears away with his thumb and sighs. “Do you want ice cream?”
As Sungmin’s expression turned from sadness to happiness, Kyuhyun just smiled and lead him out of the bathroom to the cafeteria. He went inside a mini store which was inside the cafeteria, bought a strawberry ice cream cone, and walked to Sungmin who was sitting silently next to the windows.
“Here, hope you feel better,” Kyuhyun said as he handed the ice cream to Sungmin.
“Thank you, Kyu,” Sungmin replied as he started to lick it. “I have a question though, how did you know I was hiding?”
Kyuhyun gulped; Sungmin just stared, waiting for the other’s answer.
“I asked Ryeowook where you were and he told me he saw you run to the bathroom… yeah.”
Sungmin just nodded. “So if you were looking for me, I guess you needed something…?”
“I was just wondering if you wanted to watch a movie with me this coming Friday.” That’s all Kyuhyun could come up with, plus he really wanted to spend some time with Sungmin.
“Sure! What are we going to watch? Sungmin asked excitedly, almost dropping his cone.
“I don’t know, maybe a comedy movie. Is that okay with you?” Kyuhyun asked, wiping Sungmin’s ice-cream smudged mouth with a napkin.
Sungmin didn’t know, but he couldn’t control it; he blushed at that small action and turned to look anywhere but Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun obviously noticed that something was wrong with Sungmin and frowned.
“What happened?” Kyuhyun tried to look at Sungmin’s face, but Sungmin was persistent to look somewhere else still. “Did I do something bad to you?”
“N-no Kyu, a-anyways, I need to go to my locker!” Sungmin ran as fast as he could, trying to suppress his harsh beating of his heart.
Kyuhyun stayed there dumbfounded, just wondering what the hell happened until the bell rang, indicating all students to go to their last 2 hours of class. To Kyuhyun’s dismay, those there were the 2 hours without Sungmin, while Sungmin cheered inside his head that he didn’t need to see Kyuhyun and blush again like a tomato.
During the last class of the day, Kyuhyun felt someone tap his shoulder, and he looked back to see Ryeowook hand him a little piece of paper.
When are you going to confess to Sungmin?
At first Kyuhyun was shocked that Ryeowook knew about his crush on Sungmin, but then he frowned and wrote something before giving it back to Ryeowook.
Did you stalk me or something? You happen to know something I have been hiding very well.
Behind, Kyuhyun could hear giggles, and of course those were from none other than Ryeowook. It kind of pissed him off.
No, I don’t. I just happen to see you EVERY TIME with that dreamy face whenever you’re looking at Sungmin. Plus, I already have my vice president… if you know what I mean ;)

Sungmin felt bad for leaving Kyuhyun confused awhile ago, so he used an excuse to go to the bathroom when of course the only purpose of it was to see Kyuhyun, wave until the other notice him, and mouth “sorry.” When he reached outside Kyuhyun’s classroom, he slowly tip toed to reach the windows and finally see his beloved friend. He expected a Kyuhyun writing notes on his notebook, not on a piece of paper which was going back and forth from Ryeowook to him. Instantly, he felt a pang of hurt on his chest and turned around to slump on the floor.
When the bell rang, Kyuhyun put all his belongings in his bag and got out of the class just to see an orange haired, small boy running away in the midst of the crowd that was coming out of every classroom. The only orange haired, small boy in school is obviously Sungmin, so Kyuhyun followed Sungmin with a fair distance away from him. After Sungmin entered his classroom, Kyuhyun just stood by the windows, looking at Sungmin wipe some tears from his eyes.
“Is he thinking of his ex?” was all Kyuhyun could come with as a conclusion to Sungmin’s tears.
Seeing as Sungmin’s tears won’t stop from coming out, Kyuhyun decided to just intervene and save his Sungmin before he falls again.
“Min… are you thinking of… her?” Kyuhyun asked, walking slowly towards Sungmin.
Sungmin shocked to see Kyuhyun, turned around and harshly rubbed his eyes. “No Kyu… nothing happened.”
“Nothing? Are you sure?” Kyuhyun was so near to Sungmin that he could feel the other’s trembling.
“Yes, nothing happened. Anyways,” Sungmin put his things in his bag quickly as he could. “I need to go home fast.”
Sungmin was about to run, but Kyuhyun held his arm enabling him to run away. Soon he felt a force to go back and end up being hugged by Kyuhyun.
“You know that I will always catch you when you fall,” Kyuhyun whispered. “So you can tell me anything, Min.”
Being in this position, Kyuhyun wanted to tell him everything he felt; he wanted to tell him how much he loved him and that he will always will, but if he expressed his feelings by now, the other would be confused as hell and maybe end their friendship forever. Kyuhyun won’t let their friendship to end like that.
“I guess… she was right,” Sungmin suddenly whispered.
“About what?” Kyuhyun asked before detaching himself from Sungmin to look at his tear stricken face.
“That maybe… maybe I didn’t love her at all.”
“What do you mean, Min?
“That… all this time… I have been in love with… someone else.”
“Oh… so why don’t you confess?”
“That person… has someone else already…”
“I’m sure that person will notice you sooner or later.”
“I think it’s too late for that person to notice me. I ignored that person for a while…”
“Then try to be closer with that person. I’m sure that person will acknowledge you.”
“Okay… although I think it’s already late.”
“Hey, don’t give up, Min. Why don’t you use one of your aegyos? It always works on me… so why not on that person?”
With that, Sungmin smiled and nodded before giving Kyuhyun a peck on his cheek. Kyuhyun blushed slightly and scratched his neck.
“You always know how to cheer up, thanks Kyu,” Sungmin said before leaving a blushing Kyuhyun.
The next day, Sungmin tried to sit next to Kyuhyun whenever he could. Obviously Kyuhyun enjoyed Sungmin’s company since he missed those days after Sungmin got a girlfriend. He was also slightly surprised that Sungmin used lots of aegyo on him.
“Kyu~ eat ice cream with me~” Sungmin pouted in front of Kyuhyun.
“But Min… it’s too cold to eat ice cream!” Kyuhyun pointed at people who looked like they were going to die freezing.
“But Kyu~” Sungmin put those abandoned dog’s eyes and pouted again. “I want ice cream~”
Kyuhyun blushed as Sungmin made small fists and moved like a little child whining for something so small.
“Fine, let’s go eat ice cream,” Kyuhyun said before going to the mini store in the cafeteria.
Before entering the store, Kyuhyun bumped with Ryeowook, making the smaller man fall on the floor.
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked before pulling Ryeowook up from the floor.
Ryeowook looked that Sungmin was behind Kyuhyun, so he purposely slipped forward the other, their noses almost touching. Sungmin just looked at the scene and stayed quiet.
“Sorry Kyu,” Ryeowook said, and then waved at Sungmin, “Hi Sungmin.”
When Kyuhyun didn’t hear any reply from Sungmin, he looked behind and saw a really sad Sungmin. Concerned, he wanted to ask what happened, but what happened made him even more confused. Sungmin ran away from them.
“You should get him… run Kyuhyun!” Ryeowook shouted as he pushed Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun wanted to know what Ryeowook was planning, but most importantly, he wanted to know why Sungmin left all of a sudden. Thanks to his long legs, he was able to reach Sungmin before the other could hide.
“Sungmin, what’s wrong? Didn’t you want an ice cream?” Kyuhyun asked when they reached the back of the building, and thanks God that no one was there.
“Kyu… I think I seriously lost the person I love,” Sungmin said, his tears pooling his eyes.
“What are you talking about? Did you see that person inside the store?” Kyuhyun couldn’t take this anymore; he wanted answers now.
“Kyu… I lost you,” a crying Sungmin said. “I-I lost you to… Ryeowook.”
What… did I hear correctly? Kyuhyun thought, looking at Sungmin’s teary eyes. Then all those times Sungmin suddenly doing aegyos and other things he wouldn’t normally do made him wonder, is it him whom is in love with?
“I know that I ignored you these past months with my now ex girlfriend… and that I seem to be desperate… but believe me when I said I love that person. That person is you…”
Kyuhyun was shocked and at the same time, so happy he could die in peace now.
“Min… sorry for being rude and everything but… are you stupid or something?”
“huh? Sorry for making you uncomfortable. We can stop-“
Sungmin stopped his blabbering because of Kyuhyun suddenly hugging him.
“Stop being stupid and hug me back, would you?” Kyuhyun whispered.
At that, Sungmin understood that he was the stupid one all this time. Falling in such conclusions when all this time, his best friend saved him from falling into depression and who else what else because of breakups and stupid imagination of his.
“Sungmin…”
Sungmin looked up and saw Kyuhyun close their distance with his lips on his. He closed his eyes and hooked his arms behind Kyuhyun’s neck.
“Min, please… be my baby,” Kyuhyun said. Sungmin just giggled.
“You should stop listening to that song, Kyu,” Sungmin giggled again before kissing Kyuhyun.
“I love you,” Sungmin whispered after their kiss.
“You should know by now that I loved you, I love you, and I will always love you, Min.”
“Kyu… we will watch a movie on Friday right?”

Before entering the store, Kyuhyun bumped with Ryeowook, making the smaller man fall on the floor.
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked before pulling Ryeowook up from the floor.
Ryeowook looked that Sungmin was behind Kyuhyun, so he purposely slipped forward the other, their noses almost touching. Sungmin just looked at the scene and stayed quiet.
“Sorry Kyu,” Ryeowook said, and then waved at Sungmin, “Hi Sungmin.”
When Kyuhyun didn’t hear any reply from Sungmin, he looked behind and saw a really sad Sungmin. Concerned, he wanted to ask what happened, but what happened made him even more confused. Sungmin ran away from them.
“You should get him… run Kyuhyun!” Ryeowook shouted as he pushed Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun wanted to know what Ryeowook was planning, but most importantly, he wanted to know why Sungmin left all of a sudden. Thanks to his long legs, he was able to reach Sungmin before the other could hide.

Kyuhyun was shocked and at the same time, so happy he could die in peace now.
“Min… sorry for being rude and everything but… are you stupid or something?”
“huh? Sorry for making you uncomfortable. We can stop-“
Sungmin stopped his blabbering because of Kyuhyun suddenly hugging him.
“Stop being stupid and hug me back, would you?” Kyuhyun whispered.
At that, Sungmin understood that he was the stupid one all this time. Falling in such conclusions when all this time, his best friend saved him from falling into depression and who else what else because of breakups and stupid imagination of his.

Sungmin looked up and saw Kyuhyun close their distance with his lips on his. He closed his eyes and hooked his arms behind Kyuhyun’s neck.
“Min, please… be my baby,” Kyuhyun said. Sungmin just giggled.
“You should stop listening to that song, Kyu,” Sungmin giggled again before kissing Kyuhyun.
“I love you,” Sungmin whispered after their kiss.
“You should know by now that I loved you, I love you, and I will always love you, Min.”
