“So…. You like Eunhyuk!?” asked Leeteuk with a shocked voice.
“Umm… yeah…. I mean…. -sigh- I don’t know how to explain this, I’m already embarrassed.” I said blushing. “Why do you think I sit next to him in every class? Because of him! I talk more with him than with you.”
“Wow, and I thought you had a cold heart, Donghae.”
“You’re the one with a cold heart, you don’t like Kangin as he likes you… or do you?”
“Look… I’ve been thinking about it. I’m not in denial… I… I…. love him.” I imagined Leeteuk blushing until his face was totally red.
“At least you admitted that you love him, I’m glad to hear that.”
“Yeah… he doesn’t know the meaning of ‘surrender’”
“Wow… that is definitely love.”
“You think so? How about you? Do you really like or love?”
I really didn’t know if it was like or love. To be honest, I’m confused… when am I supposed to use the word ‘like’? When am I supposed to use the word ‘love’? All I could think of was: love is when two people kiss and hug tons of times. So, if I haven’t kissed Eunhyuk yet, does that mean that I just like him?
“I see you have doubts, one question then… do you feel jealous when Ryeowook talks to him?”
“No,” I replied, sure of what I said.
“Do you feel jealous when he looks at Sungmin?”
“Umm… I don’t know how you know that he stares at Sungmin, but yes…”
“Then you surely do love him.”
“I don’t know…. Only once in my life I’ve been jealous of Sungmin. Do you remember when I asked you how would you feel if someone ignored you for the whole day? And you told me ‘I would die.’ I ignored him for the whole day until we were in lunch time. You could notice that we weren’t talking like we used to. The reason why I ignored him was… well, he ignored me just to talk with Sungmin through MSN… which is really stupid. I mean, he can type to both of us! I think I felt resentful because he talked more with Sungmin than with me. "
“I understand… but don’t worry, it already happened.”
“Thanks Leeteuk, I don’t know why I called you… we’re not that close. Yet, I told you about Eunhyuk....”
“Look, I don’t mind if I’m not the first person you would talk to, I just want to see you happy.”
“Thanks again Leeteuk, I should go now. See you tomorrow.” So that is love… Love is painful.
After the big conversation with Leeteuk over the phone, I turned the computer on. Should I tell him or not? I guess it’s time for him to know right? …Sigh…
Just when I logged in MSN, Eunhyuk talked to me first.

Yup, I’ll talk to him tomorrow.

I started to cry after I logged out and turned the computer off. Stupid Eunhyuk! Is he even a human? He doesn’t understand other people’s feelings, not even his best friend’s feelings! Why didn’t I just tell him that Sungmin was dating… IS dating Kyuhyun so he can suffer!? At the same time, I don’t want him to suffer… I really do love him.

I wasn’t sure if 2 weeks have passed since the last conversation with Eunhyuk over MSN, but I was sure that Eunhyuk and I stopped talking to each other in school and in MSN. The last time I checked my calendar, we were already in May, to be exact, 2 weeks away from summer vacations. I spent my recess and lunch with Leeteuk and Kibum, sometimes Siwon would appear out of nowhere and talk with us. Eunhyuk spent most his time with Yesung, staring at Sungmin. Yesung finally was able to get along with Ryeowook, they’re even dating… or that’s what Kangin, Leeteuk’s boyfriend, told us:
“Yesung and Ryeowook are dating! Seriously… that Yesung has blind eyes because of 3 reasons: One, he’s really annoying; second, he thinks that everyone revolves around him; third, he thinks that everyone’s slave. I don’t know how he got friends, even more depressing, a boyfriend. Now, Yesung will become his slave.”
After that, Leeteuk shushed and told him that he should be nice with people. Kangin just smiled and said, “Just for you, teuk.” Then, I asked him why he disagrees with Yesung dating Ryeowook. He just said, “Yesung and I hang around a lot right? And now that Yesung have his boyfriend, his boyfriend will be hanging with us. You get it?” I just nodded to his easy answer.
The last 2 classes of Thursday were like heaven to me. We didn’t do anything; teachers were checking our notebooks, every classmate was using the “free time” to talk about games and activities in summer vacations. In my case, I didn’t use my free time to do that, I used it to get what I lost 2 weeks ago.
“Hey Hyukjae…” I said, sitting next to him while he was staring at the empty hallway.
“Hey Donghae.”
“Why did you stop talking to me?” I asked with a serious tone.
“I don’t know…”
“What do you mean with ‘I don’t know’?”
“I mean… you stopped talking to me. When you stop talking to me, it’s because I’ve done something to upset you. I wanted to talk to you, but you really did ignore me.”
“Why didn’t you just grab my wrist and stop me?”
“I… don’t know.” Obviously I know the answer; you just didn’t care about me.
“Hyukjae…”
“Eunhyuk, call me Eunhyuk. It feels weird to hear Hyukjae coming out from your mouth.”
“Eunhyuk… let’s go back to how we were… please.”
Tears were starting to fall from my eyes, but Eunhyuk wiped them away with his thumb. I just laid my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. His arm was around me, and held me closer to him. We didn’t talk, we just stayed silent. At the end of the day, we didn’t talk at all.
“Donghae, don’t be sad,” Leeteuk said, hugging me.
“Eh? What are you talking about?”
“You don’t need to pretend everything’s alright; you know that I watch my surroundings.”
“Now I know why Kibum and you are so… alike.”
“Anyways, don’t be sad. I bet he misses your voice. Well, see you tomorrow; Kangin is taking me to dinner.”
I wish my life was easier, but what can you expect if you have Eunhyuk as your friend? He’s a really GOOD friend… but he’s even way better when he talks to you first…
