KanJani8, KanJani8, KanJani8. Where should I start with these boys?
KanJani8 is, by far, my favourite J&A group there is. Sure, I like NewS, I like Arashi, I like TOKIO, hell, I even like Kondo Masahiko, Ninja, Otokogumi and the juniors, but more so than them, it makes me proud to say that I'm a fan of KanJani8. There's just something about them that makes you like them even if you find them weird, even if you find that their music sucks, even if you hate Kansai. You can deny it, but there's that, no mater how small, part of you that likes them.
Why? Well, that's hard to say, but maybe I can tell you some of the reason with this post.
So, let's get started!

Yokoyama Yu (横山裕)
Yokoyama Yu loves oppai more than you.

Currently 30, Yokoyama is the oldest member of KanJani8, having debuted at the age of 23 and one of the members who has been in Johnny's for a long, long time. Arguably one of the more popular members - at least back before 2001, Yoko knows how to make the fans laugh.
Though, Yu is actually not Yoko's first name - it's Kimitaka. But Johnny found his name to hard to write(侯隆) and gave him the name Yu for a stage name. Hey, it's easier to write, I'll give it that.
And he is hot. And looks great in glasses. Songs like ConfUsion show how hot he can be, while on the other hand, songs like 413man can make you melt into a puddle of crying at the touching and cute.
Also, this is the man who said he could tell you who is who in KanJani8 just by seeing their dicks.
Oh, yeah, did I mention a rather large chunk of the female fans would go lesbian for him?
Shibutani Subaru (渋谷すばる)
Shibutani Subaru is one of those people who can be a TOTAL BADASS SHORTY... then turn around and fool almost all of fandom into thinking he's a girl until somebody goes "That kinda looks like Subaru..."
As the arguably best singer in KanJani8 - only arguable because he has an admitedly nasal voice -, Subaru leads most of the songs, and has had a large amount of solo's over the years.
Ranking in at enough songs to fill an album, we have, among others, Window, Sawer, desire(with bandmate Yasuda), words, Pray, Aoi Sora and Ruwa, and man can Subaru cover songs well. Notable covers include Otokogumi songs(Burn It and Mihari(With Yokoyama)) and even Super-Senior Kondo Masahiko's songs.
However, Subaru can be more prone than other members to slipping into depression, and can usually be noted by both how he speaks, and the songs he releases at that point in time.
Starting in as early as 2000 Subaru has commonly done songs with FiVe, who are one of the band groups in the company. In , they officially formed a band by the name of Flat Five Flowers, did a , appeared in a second tour, and in 2010 performed a new song, ReStart at Shounen Club Premium. It is unknown if they will ever release a single.
Murakami "Hina" Shingo (村上信五)
Hina smacks YOU, be it here or in Soviet Russia, and yes, we're sick of that joke damnit. It's like a given rule that he smacks you. He's the ultimate tsukkomi* of K8, and honestly, why not, he's quite good at it. This is a talent that tends to interlace with his ability to MC for most everything that KanJani8 does, where he dominates talks alongside Yokoyama.
He can talk well - but that says nothing for his singing skills. At all. He sings like he talks, and is by far the WORST singer in the group, if not one of the worst in... the entire company. I'm absolutely not kidding. He can not sing.
He can't act either.
Luckily, he makes up for these by being the best dancer in KanJani8, going so far as to ask for special shoes the moment he knows he'll have to be performing a dance.
For the funny, one has to look no further than the Liquid M Dokkiri. It's all the proof you may need for knowing that Hina has the largerst penis in the group.

Maruyama Ryuhei（丸山隆平）
Alert - Hot bassist. I am not liable for any fainting and hitting your head on space heaters that may be caused by the sheer hot of Maruyama Ryuhei.
I am also not liable for any busted lungs due to laughter at Maruyama Ryuhei.
Regaurdless, Maruyama is, under the weird act he puts on, a... well. I don't know how to explain him. He's a deep mystery wrapped up in weird faces, a bass, anime, and oddities. He's gorgeous and totally under appreciated compared to even Yokoyama and Murakami.
And he's a fucking whore amongst the other members.

Yasuda "Yasu" Shota (安田章大)
Yasuda is. Well. For lack of better words?
TOTALLY GAY.
He acts like a girl. He dresses like a girl. He puts on accesories like a girl. He's as short like a girl. He writes song from the POV of the female
And yet he's KanJani8's do anything boy, who vast range of talent is only rivaled by his ability to look extremely manly.
You may noy go to sleep tonight rather confused.
He also plays the guitar for the group - a job he's become quite adept at, to the point of composing more than a few songs.
Nishikido Ryo (錦戸亮)
By far the most popular member of the group(Due to his time in NewS, another JE group), his general image is "That of a bad boy. One with a poison tongue. Cool and collected. In control of the groups".
And then he goes and turns into a whimpering mess of a man who gets embarrassed easily in KanJani8. And he acts as an abusive boyfriends in dramas.
And he was extremely tiny back when he was 16- Names like "EmbRyo" and "Ryo-chan" came from back then when he was about... 146cm. Sorry, but how many 16 year old males can be taken seriously when they LOOK like they're FIVE. Uh, no.
Ohkura Tadayoshi (大倉忠義）
Ohkura used to look like this and currently looks like this. WHERE DID HE OF THE CHIPMUNK CHEEKS GO. D:
Ohkura is the drummer -yes, drummer- of KanJani8... and he learned said drums to BE in KanJani8. 'Cause Johnny was all like "You, can you play the drums? I need an eighth member for this band." And Ohkura was all "No. But I can learn!" And was given.. oh. A month. If he failed a drummer from Tokyo would have been brought in and KanJani8 would possibly have not debuted.
But fear not, he succeeded by playing his little heart out. And still kinda sucked, BUT HEY. HE GOT IN. LUCKY BOY THERE.
When asked why he joined JE he responded that he joined because of, OF ALL PEOPLE, Morita Go's dancing.
OHKURA? Please learn to recognize the bad of dancing.

KanJani8 has a few sub-groups within the group. SubaruBAND has Subaru as vocals, Yasu as the guitarist, Maru at the bass, and Ohkura on the drums. They've had a few song, most notably ONE, which sounds really good in the Spirits!! concert(2005).
V-West(More OhYamaDa now), consists of Maru, Yasu, Ohkura, and formerly Uchi. They got absorbed into K8 when they formed in 2002.
Sankyoudai sings the food-based songs. Ame-chan, Purin, Onigishi, Mikan... Yoko is the elder brother, Yasu's in the middle, and Baru's the youngest. Funny when one thinks that Subaru is older than Yasu.
* - tsukkomi. Think of the Funny Man, Strait Man comedy acts. The tsukkomi is similar to the strait man. Smacks a bit more and the style is, generally, more in a set pattern.
