Reynolds would star in and produce the movie through his Maximum Effort company, along with Hasbro's Allspark Pictures.
Bateman, who just picked up an Emmy for directing on the Netflix series Ozark, would also appear in the film.
Fox/Disney are behind the movie based on the board game made by Hasbro, which was previously adapted into a 1985 feature starring Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn and Christopher Lloyd.
