According to the most recent box office estimates, #Midway should turn in results ahead of #DoctorSleep by about $5 million, but numbers are still fluid until Monday's final tally. More box office: https://t.co/n2CJX2ZwtM pic.twitter.com/lP8awUtGeN

The Shining sequel seems to be flopping hard at the box office with a rough $12-13M opening. Projections earlier in the week had it at $25-30M for the 4-day weekend. It cost around $50M to produce.

Meanwhile WW2 movie Midway is exceeding expectations coming at first with an $18M opening after pre-release projections had it in the early teens. The film still cost $100M to make, so this opening is nothing to brag about.

Other new releases Last Christmas and Playing with Fire are opening at around $12M each.
