Amidst the election night coverage, film director and producer Adam McKay took to Twitter to vent his frustration, admonish the Democratic Party, and insist he was switching his party affiliation to either the Green Party or Working Families-but he's "open to ideas".

In his flurry of tweets, he doubled down on insisting Americans leave the Democratic Party in favor of third party options.

The real way Trump wins is if we don’t abandon or take over the DNC.

It’s time for a real opposition party.

It is time to abandon the Dem Party.

I’m registering Green Party or Working Families.
But am open to ideas.

McKay previously expressed support for Bernie Sanders in both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Per Variety: "He has been vocal about the need for climate action and signed an open letter to Joe Biden in October 2023 calling for a ceasefire in Gaza."
