A24 also dropped marketing it before it even came out in favour of other films they bought on the festival circuit. ADM is excellent and it's such a shame that it wasn't promoted when it could have been a great contender for all those involved.

Haven't seen it, but from what I hear it shows Trump in negative light only and there was maybe a rape scene even? So this is a bit weird.

yes, there is a rather gruesome rape scene. the whole film paints him extremely negatively and is quite on-the-nose about it.

I was iffy about this movie for obvious reasons until I saw the trailer and thought damn, that genuinely looks GOOD.

So I went to see it.

It was good. It was fantastic, actually, if a little long in parts. Like a sinister American politics Godfather with shades of other great films.

Absolutely nothing about it was flattering to Trump, and if anything, it showed the depths of his depravity and slow descent into worsening greed, disgusting behavior and madness. I was so thoroughly impressed by it, and maybe if it came out at a different time, there'd be a different reaction to it, but idk, I will always defend this film because I think it's misunderstood by people who haven't seen it.

What's to misunderstand? Who cares if it shows him for the blathering brainless conman he is? Truly what even is the point? Everyone who will see this movie or be interested in it already knows that. What value does it add to anything?

ontd really is the stupidest place sometimes with these first few comments. it's very clear that he was shunned cause industry higher ups are kissing the ring and were too cowardly to talk about a movie depicting trump as a rapist piece of shit. on top of that he's saying publicists wouldn't even allow things to get to the actors out of clear fear. as other places bought up. he's also not even American and could suffer for this. for a place that thinks it understands politics well this sure is an example that you guys don't.
