Gladiator 2 is getting...fine reviews, but a few people noted that lead Paul Mescal was maybe not the right casting for a big action blockbuster role

Honestly who cares?

I’m in it for the fight scenes. Denzel and Pedro. LOL

I don’t think Paul is leading man for a big budget movie like this.

He’s really not much of a character. He’s pretty but he’s not playing a well developed character. (And he doesn’t bring anything extra to the role.)

I like him as an actor and I'm looking forward to this cornball ass movie but those reviews aren't surprising. And pretty much every actor fades into the background opposite Denzel's supernova charisma, so no shame there.

I don’t think anyone from the new generation is a movie star tbh.

I haven’t seen Gladiator 2 but I’ve seen people who’ve seen it say their issue with Paul’s casting was that he didn’t come off like someone you would follow into battle. But that was the exact same issue I had with Timothée in Dune 2 towards the end-he wasn’t physically imposing and wasn’t someone I would follow into battle either. I feel like there aren’t any younger male actors who really fit the bill.

Yeah Timothee is absolutely not leading man material lol. At least not for that kind of movie.

I’ve said it before here but in their limited screen time Austin and Lea completely outshined Timothee and Zendaya. And I didn’t even think those two were bad! But Austin and Lea just brought IT and were so magnetic on screen

When I watched Dune 2, I couldn't get over how it looked like a mildly ambitious breeze could knock Timothée right over.
