Just wanted to pop in here and thank you for your posts. Some of us are indie/arthouse people and it's a good guide for what's currently out.

I've been quiet, but I've always been here. I just think in light of current comments made I'm going to be more vocal on Original posts now to combat the people here are loud with their nastiness. :(

A local independent theatre is bringing back some of their Film Festival faves and Flow is one of them and I was thinking of checking it out since I missed it during the festival. I see they're also going to be showing Never Look Away so I think I'll catch that one too.

It was a blast! I honestly didnt know if it would be good or not but I enjoyed the fuck out it. Naomi was amazing and it’s BS the academy doesn’t recognize horror because she deserves a nom for that. I don’t just say that because I’m a fan, she genuinely impressed me. [Spoiler (click to open)]I knew she wasn’t going to make it but I was still sad when it happened 😔 that demon is so awful! I really wanted her to live.

I caught a showing of Where the Small Things Are. Quite films like this are not usually my cup of tea, but I liked this and I liked that they kept it to 1.5 hours instead of stretching it out to 2 hours like most movies these days.

I watched Totally Killer and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Totally Killer was a lot of fun and much better than the mess that was Time Cut. Kieran Shipka is the spitting image of Emma Watson.

Four Weddings and a Funeral was classic 90s romcom. I’m generally a romcom hater but classic like this leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The poem during the funeral had me straight up crying.

I’m probably going to watch Gladiator 2 this weekend for the one (1) movie star, Denzel Washington. Curious about Bonhoeffer but idk.

We went to see Wicked last night.

tl;dr: I liked it more than I expected to, the vocals are incredible, the cinematography and lighting are awful.

The longer version: I have been a hater of the casting of this film since Day One, and while I still don't love it considering how distractingly old everyone looks, I guess at least everyone looks old together.

I think the vocal performances outshine the acting by a lot, though. I am not a Cynthia Erivo fan at all, but as soon as I heard "The Wizard and I", I knew she was crushing it. Her vocals during Defying Gravity are predictably incredible.

Jonathan Bailey is fine as fuck in this movie. Dancing Through Life was the best choreo in the film.

Ariana Grande was good. She does the same thing throughout, and does it well, but I don't fully understand the raves she's getting. My husband liked the movie more than me, [Spoiler (click to open)]but really didn't buy Galinda's change of heart re: Elphaba. I will say that the scene at the Ozdust Ballroom is the only scene that made me tear up, well done.I ( ... )

I’m not watching Wicked but I hated the visuals from seeing the trailers that were shoved down my throat. It looks so nauseatingly fake and ugly, and not in a fun camp way. Ariana’s bleached hair and brows only add to the overall visuals in a bad way.

I hope the fact that he's working now is a sign he's in a good place. I always thought he was a good actor with a lot of personal demons, poor guy. Maybe this will be a good era for him.

we're going to see Day of the Fight with a Q&A. It was directed by Jack Huston, and stars Michael Pitt, and I am so curious to see if it's any good and witness the Boardwalk Empire reunion of it all. I really hope Michael Pitt is doing better, mentally.

Please report back. BE feels like forever ago, doesn't it?
