since they are part of campaigning now, i wish that industry awards shows like the oscars gave them their due during the broadcast. if i were in charge i would scrap 98% of the on-stage bits in favor of video packages highlighting behind the scenes stuff. the awards viewing audience is the same audience for that kind of thing.

I love behind the scenes stuff whether it's a tour of the set, talking to the costume designer, showing the hair/makeup process, etc.
To be honest, I feel like stunts/fights are often the go-to for behind the scenes clips and as much as I respect the work that goes into stunts and fight scenes, a lot of it ends up looking kind of the same in the behind the scenes stuff when they show the actors rehearsing the choreography, which is why it's often the least interesting form of behind the scenes footage unless they're doing something very different (I did always enjoy the behind the scenes stunt stuff shown for Game of Thrones).
But I agree that it would be great to see interesting behind the scenes clips instead of lame jokes during award ceremonies. That reminded me that one of my favorite bits at the MTV movie awards was the year that they had Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo pretend to be crew members who showed what they did behind the scenes.
