FASHION put it all on me

BEST

Taraji P. Henson
One of the first stars down the Oscar red carpet on Sunday night was also one of the first fashion winners for me! The amazing Taraji Henson looked oh-so glamorous in a creamy gown by Roberto Cavalli. The gorgeous gown unfolds layer after layer all the way down to an incredible train. Of course the big statement with this outfit was the stunning Fred Leighton 19th century necklace. Absolutely amazing! (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)

Kate Winslet
She’s been the superstar of this year’s award show season so it should be no surprise that she made her way onto this Oscar best dressed list. The two-tone Yves Saint Laurent gown is absolutely gorgeous. The steel grey gown with the transparent beaded black down the side is truly incredible. Kate finished off her red carpet look with some ultra-fabulous over-sized diamond earrings. Definitely a winning look. (credit: Photo by Steve Granitz/WireImage)
idk, not feeling it too much. I STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH KATE

Heidi Klum
She was back for year number two as the spokesperson for the Heart Truth campaign and supermodel Heidi Klum was looking absolutely incredible in this red Roland Mouret gown. The origami style top and the super-high slit that exposes those killer heels definitely made a fashion statement, and it was wow! Finally, there were all of those incredible silver and coral jewels! Heidi’s entire look was red hot! (credit: Photo by John Shearer/WireImage)
ugly

Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker can seriously do no wrong when it comes to over-the-top fashion! I have to admit my jaw totally dropped at the sight of SJP when she walked the Oscar red carpet in this Dior haute couture masterpiece. The dark locks, the shimmering bustier and the elaborate princess ball gown…it’s all perfect! Love it or hate it the incredible “barely mint” creation was definitely one of the Oscar fashion highlights of 2009! (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
ugly, probs the backup wedding dress from satc

Penelope Cruz
One of my favourite red carpet darlings has to be this year’s Best Supporting Actress Penelope Cruz, who certainly did not disappoint with her walk down the Academy Award red carpet. Her voluminous cream coloured Balmain gown with all of the rouching and lace details was actually more than 60 years old. No stylist here… Penelope apparently had her eyes on the vintage dress for some time, and picked it up when she hit the streets in search of her Oscar gown. It was the perfect choice for the actress’s big night and my favourite gown of the evening. (credit: Photo by ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images)

Marisa Tomei
Confession time. I had predicted that Marisa Tomei would walk down the Oscars red carpet in some travesty of an outfit, but I was pleasantly surprised when Marisa popped up in this incredibly dramatic red carpet masterpiece. The silver Versace gown was definitely one of the most dramatic gowns of the night. Just look at that unbelievable train! (credit: Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
very similar to january jones' golden globes dress,

Freida Pinto
There was a ton of excitement surrounding the film Slumdog Millionaire on Oscar night which meant a ton of red carpet pressure for one of the film’s stars, Freida Pinto. Good thing she didn’t disappoint wearing this incredibly sophisticated one-sleeve John Galliano gown. The deep sapphire dress with subtle beading throughout was the perfect choice for the young actress. (credit: Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
amazing colour

Anne Hathaway
Sophisticated. That is the one word that pretty much sums up Anne Hathaway’s gorgeous gown that she wore down Oscar’s red carpet. Anne looks just gorgeous, as usual, in this jewel encrusted white gown from Armani Prive. The dress ensured the actress glimmered like the true fashionista that she is. favourite dress so far

Natalie Portman
While her onstage appearance with Ben Stiller was one of the funnier moments of the night all I could think about was Natalie Portman’s incredible gown. All eyes were definitely on Natalie when she walked the red carpet and graced the stage in this Grecian Rodarte gown. Channelling old school Hollywood glamour the award winning actress totally nailed it. I love the tiny rainbow coloured glimmer that is sparsely spread across the bodice. It’s the perfect finish to a perfect gown. (credit: Photo by John Shearer/WireImage)
very similar to alicia keys' dress,

Angelina Jolie
This red carpet gown was anything but basic black. Red carpet queen Angelina Jolie had cameras flashing from the moment she stepped out of the limo at the 81st annual Academy Awards. Her floor-length Elie Saab gown can truly be described as a classic. The glimmering emerald earrings…well, they add the perfect finishing touch. (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
black dress with green accessories was already done by amy adams at the golden globes!

Beyonce
Check out those curves! If there is one thing Beyonce knows how to do it’s show off on the red carpet and boy did she show off in her black mermaid gown with gold graphics. What do I love most about Beyonce’s red carpet look? She’s not wearing any jewellery! It totally works with this body hugging number. (credit: Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
this is hideous..

Melissa George
Actress Melissa George may have went for a look that was slightly bridal with her white Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore down the Oscar red carpet on Sunday night, but I actually love it. It’s pure drama and the body hugging gown with its incredible mermaid style bottom totally suits the actress. (credit: Photo by John Shearer/WireImage)

Evan Rachel Wood
Once upon a time Evan Rachel Wood was someone who I pretty much despised on the red carpet. Seriously. But, there has been a strange and wonderful fashion transformation going on with her through the last few months and Sunday night was yet another example of that evolution. Her champagne Elie Saab gown was so simple and yet oh-so-sophisticated. No doubt about it, the actress looked absolutely divine in the gown and the chandelier earrings she wore were to die for. (credit: Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

WORST

Miley Cyrus
She was particularly annoying on the red carpet and she definitely makes this year’s worst dressed list in this over the top (and not in a good way) gown. Miley Cyrus may have been going for some bold glamour, but sadly the teen queen fails in this overly ornate gown courtesy of Zuhair Murad. The tiered petals are anything but regal and the beaded bling throughout is definitely excessive. (credit: Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
idgi, i thought this dress was amazing and i HATE miley cyrus. i guess its either a love/hate thing. the belt is definitely ugg though

Amy Adams
Sadly, the celebrated actress made a less than stellar strut down the red carpet at Oscar’s 81st annual bash on Sunday night. I mean, I love Carolina Herrera and I love red gowns, but I simply did not like this deep red Carolina Herrera strapless gown. I think the black piping across the bodice actually ruins the entire dress and the multi-coloured Fred Leighton beads around her neck are really terrible. (credit: Photo by Lester Cohen/WireImage)
WHAT!? she is rocking the red and THE NECKLACE IS AMAZING!

Jessica Biel
In theory the massive bow that pops out at the bust and tucks in at the waist is right on trend, but somehow this gown simply does not work. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy… and I am not just talking about Jessica Biel’s ivory Prada dress. What is going on with her ratty hair? No doubt about it, this was definitely not Jessica’s best look. (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
how does she get invited to things?

Lisa Rinna
She may not have been nominated for an Academy Award (and I doubt she ever will) but viewers at home certainly saw enough of the TV Guide Academy Awards red carpet host. Her purple chiffon gown by Gustavo Cadile is not really that bad. I actually kind of like it. I just can’t get past the Frankenstein hair and makeup. Lisa…what happened? (credit: Photo by Steve Granitz/WireImage)

Mickey Rourke
Mickey Rourke admitted in a recent LA Times article that he is no George Clooney/style fashionisto and he definitely wouldn’t be gunning for fashion gold on this year’s Oscar red carpet. He was right. The off-white ensemble and sunglasses are just so strange and the hanging chains seem more appropriate for a skateboard park. Jean Paul Gaultier threw the ensemble together just days before the big event…maybe he should have spent a little longer on it. (credit: Photo by Steve Granitz/WireImage)

Amanda Seyfried
Oh Mamma Mia, this is not Amanda Seyfried’s best look. The young actress walked the Oscar red carpet in this questionable red Valentino gown. The dress is stiff and awkward especially on such a young woman. The bow is far too overwhelming and pretty much ruins the entire dress. (credit: Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
i feel bad for her since her her heel broke while she was performing. its ok karen

Tilda Swinton
It may not be as bad as last year’s “avante garde” one-sleeved black Lanvin gown, but Tilda Swinton continued the trend of hopping on the worst dressed list with this year’s walk down the red carpet. Yes, Tilda once again chose Lanvin for yet another underwhelming Academy Award look. This year a black skirt paired with a draped sand coloured blouse helped her get on the worst dressed list. (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
whatever, bitch is fierce. YOU GO JADIS

Sophia Lauren
She may be a screen icon but she certainly wasn’t a style icon when she hit the Academy Awards red carpet on Sunday night. Don’t get me wrong the 74-year-old actress is stunning, but couldn’t she have found a better dress for her walk down the red carpet? There is just so much going on with the golden-beige gown. Plus, it pretty much blends right in with the actress’s skin. Scary stuff. (credit: Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)

Whoopi Goldberg
If anyone remembers way back when Whoopi Goldberg hosted the Oscars you may remember a few of the horrendous outfits she sported. This flowing leopard print dress may not be as tacky as some of the outfits we have seen before, but it certainly wasn’t Oscar glam. Definitely one of the evening’s worst. (credit: AP Photo/Chris Carlson)
only sluts wear animal print

Melissa Leo
Actress Melissa Leo’s copper Oscar gown kind of reminds me of something we would have seen on the red carpet runway during the ‘80s. Simply put, this dress with its draping and many folds is simply unflattering on the actress. The colour does work on Melissa, but the actual gown - especially the mid-section and those horrible shoulders - doesn’t at all. (credit: Photo by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic)

PS. this sucks
