Falcon Heene is stuck in a hot air balloon. The six-year old is son of Richard and Mayumi Heene of Ft. Collins, Colo. Richard is a storm chaser and scientist. The parents were on "Wife Swap" and returned for the 100th episode, so information on the family is online.
Falcon has two older brothers, Bradford and Ryo.
According to tv.com, the family was known for their risk taking.
The ABC site says the family is "science-obsessed" and according to ABC website:
When the Heene family aren't chasing storms, they devote their time to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm. In this ultimate swap, the Heenes swap lives with a psychic mom who speaks to the dead and can control the weather, her husband and her children -- who believe they are destined to be stars. IT HAS LANDED
No one seems to be trying to get anyone out.
Balloon has been basically popped and all helium is gone.
It doesnt seem like anyone is in there.....so.....
CNN is saying he MIGHT have fallen out? Earlier? CNN seems basically confused.
Police say there is NO ONE INSIDE. Officially
(btw people were freaking out before, and since the family was on tv its now ~celeb ontd worthy~)
a sibling saw a boy crawl into the balloon before it took off. the door to the basket was unlocked, so he might have fallen out. but they're not sure where. (Early enough that it didn't matter, or late enough to where results were devastating.)
Balloon got up to +5,000 feet.
btw i know this post is kind of strange and not all questions are answered, but that's because we don't know everything yet. but I'm watching CNN so I'll update as soon as anything comes out.
"basket has not been breached" so he is probably in the neighborhood in the time. so he might have never been in it.

The balloon probably traveled easier than it would have in, say, California, because the air is thinner due to the higher elevation in Colorado.

I used to call hot air balloons "hot bubbles." And my dog is afraid of them.
CNN FACT:
Mark, a neighbor saw them working on it this morning. It was supposed to just hover at around 20 feet. They realized Falcon was not there and thought he was in the craft.
Local Police are now believing he was NOT in the basket and is in the neighborhood somewhere.
The Falconer not available for comment.
Based on amount of coverage this is getting on CNN and other channels, I am assuming that health care, the national debt, terrorism, swine flu, AND the economy have all been fixed.

FACT:
According to ABC news now, a farmer dug up an 11 lb sweet potato!
NOW HLN is saying the bottom basket part was NOT breached.
HLN says
basket is 20ft by 5ft. it's bottom was made of thin plywood.

ugh my heart sank when I saw this. We all hope he is ok. The joke comments were made after the presumed report was that he was never IN the basket.

NOW they're saying the basket which had been rumored to have fallen off, WAS attached when it landed, but damaged.
