Lady Gaga - Has the Fame Monster Jumped the Shark?
Is it just us or is everyone coming down with a case of Lady Gaga Fatigue?
A few months ago, we didn't think twice about blasting "Telephone" on repeat until the neighbors called to complain, and each and every day seemed like a new opportunity to gawk at her latest madcap outfit.
But now a series of awkward incidents has us wondering if Lady Gaga might have -- dare we say -- jumped the shark (or tripped over it in heel-less platforms and chaps, as it were).
First came her provocative, religion-baiting new video for "Alejandro," featuring footage so dark, twisted, and explicitly sexual that even Katy Perry (of whipped cream-squirting boobs fame) tweeted that it was "blasphemous."
Then there was her oh-no-she-didn't beekeeper-in-drag ensemble for her own sister's graduation.
Sure, her sister may be cool with being upstaged and, yes, we'd likely be disappointed if we'd showed up to the event and seen the Gagster in an off-the-rack LBD, but the whole thing suggested that perhaps the pop star has been taking her role as a fashion icon a little too seriously.
She didn't look stylish -- she looked like a tool.
Speaking of which, even Jerry Seinfeld called the singer a "jerk" after she turned up to a Mets game earlier this month in racy lingerie and gave the finger to photographers. A bratty attitude and a completely off-the-mark outfit? Spare us.
"This woman is a jerk," Seinfeld told WFAN radio, according to Popeater. "I hate her.
"I don't know why she's doing this stuff. I don't know what these young people think or how they promote their careers. I'm not one of these all-publicity-is-good people. People talk about you need exposure -- you could die of exposure."

Is Lady Gaga just too left field? She wore a bra, panties, and fishnets under a revealing team jersey to a MLB game.
And if wearing fishnets and a bra to a baseball game (twice!) didn't have "fashion victim" written all over it, hitting the floor at Heathrow Airport after stumbling on her heel-less boots certainly did. Honey, honey -- it's OK to not endanger your life by wearing -- gosh, I don't know -- ballet flats on your flight.
The genius of Lady Gaga's envelope-pushing style is that it always felt like she was getting the last laugh, toying with conventional beauty standards while breaking new fashion ground. Even if our first reaction was "What is she wearing this time?" she earned our respect and always had the upper hand.
But in these last few weeks something seems to have shifted. Now, it seems like the joke just might be on her.
Folks, we may have created a (fame) monster.
Who knows, maybe homegirl is having a bad month. Maybe she's blurred the line between "entertaining performer" and "24/7 performance-art piece." Maybe she's just too much of a good thing.
