Parks and Recreation's Dan Goor and Mike Schur's untitled Fox cop comedy has quickly become one of our most anticipated pilots. After casting Andy Samberg and Terry Crews, the pilot has added veteran Andre Braugher and popular up-and-coming comedian Chelsea Peretti. Braugher, who has experience in serious pretend-cop work on Homicide and Law & Order: SVU, will play the force's serious-minded captain. Peretti, who has worked with Goor and Schur as a writer on Parks, will play the eccentric office manager. The series will air on Fox. Great: Shoot it, order it, and put it before New Girl already.
We hear the broad outlines of the show are that it's an ensemble cop show set in one of New York City's five boroughs. Schur and Goor will write and co-create the potential series, and both would serve as exec producers, according to industry insiders. Universal Television is producing. Before Parks fans freak out, Schur has made it clear in previous interviews that he plans to stay with the show till the end, so his involvement in something else doesn't have anything to do with the fate or future of his current NBC series. And as Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy have shown, showrunners can multitask. Plus, Parks doesn't have a lot of elaborate production numbers or musical montages, so a second show should be a breeze!
