Who owns this icon journal?
The name's Beth and I'm a twenty-three year old graphic junkie. I started this icon journal in 2004, and even though I've went on hiatus more times than I can count, I always come back. You may of heard of me through my other LJs: plush & branlage.

Can I add your journal to my friends list for updates?
Of course you can however I am unable to add you back. As of February 22, 2005, I will no longer be adding people to this journal. LiveJournal has a limit of friends and I've reached that limit. Please note that none of my entries are friends-only, all are public and you will not be missing anything by not being listed.

Do I have to credit for the icons / brushes / mood themes / etc of yours that I use? How do I credit?
Yes, you do need to credit. I ask that you credit to this journal's name (ohpaintbrush) instead of my personal journal. If you need help on how to credit, please see this tutorial. If you are using my icons on another journaling site, please credit as "ohpaintbrush@LJ".

Do you take icon requests and/or are open to suggestions?
Yes and no. If you want an icon with your username on it or would like it with or without text and/or a certain effect, then yes I am willing. However, I don't normally do requests unless I'm incredibly bored. If I decide to, I will have a post open for them. You can suggest icon subjects but they are just that: suggestions. I'm not obligated to actually make them. You can do so on this post.

I'd love to see you make icons with such and such, will you? Why didn't you make something I suggested?
The suggestions box is just there for me to grab ideas from if I'm having icon subject block. I'm not going to make icons of something I don't like or have no interest in. It isn't there for you to request icons but to suggest icon ideas. I'm always willing to take suggestions and I consider them all but don't be offended or upset if I don't make what you suggest.

I can't find a certain icon. Do you have archives?
Indeed I do. I have the regular LJ generated archives which will help looking by date of post. Then, I have all posts and other resources added to the memories. Finally, I have a listing of all icon subjects in the Tag Archive. Personally, I suggest looking at the last method as it is the most organized.

Can I customize your icons? Will you customize one of your icons for me?
DO NOT EDIT MY ICONS unless I specifically say that they are bases and OPEN for customization. In the same vein, if you want something customized, you can give it a shot and ask. If it isn't too involved, I'll probably do it. BUT! I reserve the right to not do it. Sometimes, I just don't have the spare time to.

I would like to add your icon(s) to my fan site, fanlisting, etc, may I?
I'd consider it an honor! I would appreciate a link back to this journal (http://ohpaintbrush.livejournal.com) and a note that they were made by me. Naturally, please don't hotlink my images, upload them to the site you are putting them on, file names intact. And of course, if you do decide to, let me know!

May I nominate one of your icons for an icon contest/awards community?
Yes, of course but do let me know. I like to keep track in the case I actually win.

Will you affiliate with my icon journal/community/etc?
Yes! Just leave a comment on this post and I'll add you back as soon as I can. As long as it has something to do with icons, then I'm more than willing to affiliate.

How did you get your icons in a box like that with the numbers on the side?
I used HTML tables and CSS style definitions. I am not going to even try to go into it because I would be here all day but you can learn all you need to know from Web Monkey, which is a one-stop shop for all your Web Design needs. In addition, there is a generator created by 77words located here, if you want the easy way out.

What programs do you use?
I use Paint Shop Pro 6 and Animation Shop 3. Occasionally I use Adobe Photoshop 6 but usually only for an effect here and there. I know absolutely nothing about the program.

Where did you find this or that?
I have all my resources listed in this post. I also have a font guide that has examples and links to fonts that I've used. If what you are looking for isn't at either of those posts, comment here and I'll do my best to hunt it down for you.

Why is the text on your icons so small? I can't read it!
Tiny text is simply text that is under 4pt size. I use it a lot in my icons and mind that it isn't meant to be read. I use it as decoration the same way I would use a brush. Most of the time, I will put random letters all in a line with spaces (i.e. lskd lo ncm cm lkhdgld) for use and sometimes I'll just make up something. Unless you can somewhat read what it says, then it isn't anything important.

Would you like to join my icon community?
Maybe! I'm always open to checking out new icon communities but please don't be offended if I decide not to take you up on your offer.

I commented on your posts but you didn't answer me. Why?
Due to the massive quanity of comments I get, I don't take the time to answer back. Plus most just comment with which icon(s) they are taking or thanking me, so it is a waste of time to reply to all those. However, if you asked a question and it went unanswered, it was just overlooked. Just ask me here and I'll see it because I check it for comments regularly.

I really like an effect and/or style you use, how did you do it?
Fun question. If you are curious about how I got a certain effect or look to an icon, hit me up and ask. But most of the time, I just do things and go "OHHH THAT LOOKS NICE!" and rarely remember how I did it. Still, it never hurts to ask.

Will you post a tutorial on how you made an icon?
I don't do tutorials for two simple reasons: (1) I hate for anyone to know all my secrets. I have certain ways that I do things and I feel like they are unique to just me. If other people knew those, then anyone could copy my style; (2) They are time-consuming and I just don't have the time or patience to complete them. I'd rather spend that hour making icons and/or brushes.

Can you help me with Adobe Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro/Image Ready/Microsoft Paint/etc?
First of all, I only really use Paint Shop Pro and so I'd only be able to tell you how to do something in there but even with that said, please make good use of Google instead of begging me to help you. There are thousands of sites out there for beginners with tutorials on just about everything. I don't have time to hold your hand and show you how to do everything.

How did you get your userinfo like that?
While I'm not going to give you the exact code because I do like to be a little unique, here is some simple code to get your userinfo centered and with a small header:

How can I make my layout look like yours?
I used MANY tutorials from all around LiveJournal. For a good start, I recommend looking at howto and prehistoric as they both have many things you can do with free account overrides. The layout I have now is a paid account Component custom style. I used tutorials from component_help and s2howto.

Do you have any buttons I can link you with?
I sure do! If you need a specific size, request it! I just made these because they are the most common. Feel free to hotlink as they are hosted at ImageShack.us. They are located here.

If your question is not answered here, please make good use of Google before asking. Answers to most questions can be found through there. Please do not use this as your resource for all your graphic needs. Look up some tutorials, find communities on LJ or break out the manual. Please understand that I don't have time to hold your hand, I have my own things to do. Also note that I only use PAINT SHOP PRO 6.0 and nothing else. I know NOTHING about Photoshop or later versions of Paint Shop Pro so I won't even be able to answer a question about that, if I planned to.
If your question still isn't answered, please feel free to ask on this post only. If you ask anywhere else, I'm may not see it.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING AFFILIATES, PLEASE COMMENT HERE.
