Fill: Swing Shift, Sam/Dean, R, 2/2When Sam's eyes get glassy and his fingers start shaking against the laptop keyboard, Dean sweeps down like a holy warrior for nap-time
( ... )
What a cool take on the prompt, a Sam who can't really shut down or relax when he's sane and happy any more than he can when he's powering his way through suffering. I love that Sam being safe and there is enough for Dean to relax into their lives, and that he can work as a kind of external regulator to settle Sam as well. It's sad that so many of Sam's instincts, for sleep and sex and just vegging, have been sort of alienated, but it's still a happy ending as long as he has Dean to ground him in it.
Thank you so much! And there can never be too many fills, the more the merrier!
I'm glad you liked my take on this! It ended up a lot less schmoopy than I originally intended, but something I've been struck with this season is how Sam and Dean are both closer than they've been in years, but also a little more independent. I really like their adult relationship, so I wanted to play with that a little post-series.
Plus, I'm curious how Sam's experiences have affected his relationship with sex. I feel like Dean's always read to get back in the saddle, if for no other reason than it reminds him of life outside hunting, but for Sam it'd just be easier to swear off the whole thing (except for Dean). /rambling
