The comm hosted this little event a couple of years ago, and as November 2 is an auspicious day for our darling Sam, today would be the perfect time to revisit this challenge. Welcome to the Triple Play 2015!
FILLED: Feathers and Claws (1/2)themegalosaurusNovember 9 2015, 23:43:28 UTC
You’re doing it wrong, Sam wants to say, but the devil in his mouth won’t let him. His tongue snaps like a live thing, out of control. “That the best you got, old man

The power rushes up to fill him, burning to the tips of his body, and Sam convulses in a pleasure that he can’t control. The bird is singing joyfully. His fingers burn hot. His chest is swelling, bubbling with it. The priest is going to die

Holy...something else! That was incredible. From the eerily brittle possession, to John rushing in, but most of all, how John forbids Sam to tell Dean. Oh, man, the connotations all through that. BRILLIANT.

Thanks beast! I'm glad you liked it. I always enjoy speculating about how much John knew or thought about Sam's relationship to the supernatural during his childhood/adolescence. I feel like whatever he suspected he'd be very careful to protect Dean from it.
Re: Re: FILLED: Feathers and Claws (2/2)quickreaverNovember 10 2015, 17:45:48 UTC
Oh, he TOTALLY would. Sometimes I marvel at how much John had to deal with, not just with raising two children alone, but with the weight of all he knew, feared, suspected...

Whoa that's masterful, from the shaky, critical Sam-voice of the first line to the terrifying bird-blinks of the last. All the vestiges and fallouts and horrors of possession, the things we know will happen later, are right here; guilt and shame and the things he carries. John, all leather and sweat and what might be praise, rough-footed indeed. The swallowing of blades. Really wonderful. I think I might have more to say later!

oh gosh, thanks so much. i love your stuff so this is very nice to hear! and yes I think possession is such an interesting topic (and such fertile ground for horror), so I'm glad some of the complexity of it came across.

Aw, thank you to you, too! Read your comment below about economy and yes, I think some of the impact of this comes from just that (and I'm a big fan of economy). You describe (dust and paper and black-clad bodies) evocatively, but the adjectives have blades, and the narrative crackles, like Sam, with power. Love.

OMG, this is amazing. From the eerie inhumanity of possession to the horror of not being in control of your own body to John coming in rushing like that. You wonder if John has already begun suspecting Sam's psychic destiny. I love the phrase of swallowing blades. This is lovely. <3

it was such a great prompt so thank you! and yes, i rather think that this john at least isn't as surprised as you might want him to be, to find sam black eyed and crackling with power. very pleased you liked it!

Wow - what an intense and gripping fic! I loved the eerie way you capture Sam's possession, the feeling of helplessness, and the aura of evil with the dark bird imagery. I adored that it was John that came to Sam 's rescue, and the curt way he is with Sam, hinting at being proud, but then forbidding Sam from telling Dean what happened.
I really enjoyed this fic, there was so much going on in so few words - very neatly crafted! Thank you for sharing :)
2) A priest
