Dean dashes up the stairs when he hears the door to the walkway bang open. He gets there just in time to see Sam trying to make his way towards the outer wall with a glass mug of steaming tea in his hand

It’s the best he’s going to get today. “I just don’t want you going over the rail, Sam. Your balance is still for shit. It sucks. I know. But you’ve got to give it some time,” he says as he picks up the last of the big pieces and piles them off to the side, out of the way for now. He’ll bring a broom up later to finish cleaning up the mess

So quiet, painful but beautifully written - I love it!!! I love how you don't quite spell out everything that's happened to Sam, but we get the idea that he's different, but that their relationship is just as strong, if not stronger because of it.

This breaks my heart while also filling it with brotherly feels! Thank you so much for filling the prompt to beautifully and for sharing :)

Thanks! I'm sort of in the middle of a half dozen other fics and nanowrimo at the moment. Somehow I started a bunch I've yet to finish. I'm writing one that is similar (I'm a sucker for blind Sam), but I'd love to revisit this one eventually.
