I just got the results of Jackson's donor cell test from last Monday... down again, to 18% :(. We test again in about 3 weeks, and we'll do an enzyme level at that time as well. This sucks. I don't know about the fractions yet, there may have been lab issues with the breakdown of the total percentage so we may not get those results this time. ( Read more... )

it sounds like a good plan to me. I will be praying for them to go back up, Jackson is a tough guy just like his mommy and daddy. I have faith :)

I agree. Jackson is a strong guy just like his parents. And he is such a blessing to all of us. Lots of prayers for all of you, D.

Sounds like a great plan to me. Your words are inspiring, D. Just one day at a time. Prayers and hugs to you all.

I'm so sorry D'anne. I don't know much about psychology but your attitude sounds healthy to me. Does each transplant improve odds of it 'taking' do the decreasing numbers mean it's not 'taking' or is there some ebb and flow with the numbers?

It's hard to say if a second transplant will increase the odds of his donor cells engrafting. It might just be something in his physiology that prevents them from taking hold, in which case a second transplant might have similar results. The scary thing is that a second transplant carries a higher risk of transplant-related complications, and thus it has a higher mortality rate.

D, I am so sorry. I hope things turn around and you get better news in 3 weeks.

Over Christmas Jill was here (Joseph's mom). I had told her about you in the past and she asked about you this weekend. I told her Jackson was doing well. She is so happy. She said she thinks about you quite a bit.

Sending up extra prayers for you and your family.

Oh, that's so sweet of her to think of us. I know it must be bittersweet for her to hear about him. I forget, is she not with Joseph's dad anymore? If she ever has questions about newborn transplant for MLD, you can put her in contact w/me.

They are not together - never married. They actually broke up before Joseph was born. She was 21 and in college when Joseph was born.
