How does being married make you feel different?

i wholeheartedly reject the notion that "marriage" is what cements a partnership. and yet for me it does make everything feel more unified...a weird feeling i'm not entirely comfortable with and obviously not really good at explaining. what do you think?

I've never wanted to consider marriage as some kind of "guarantee" but more of a promise and commitment on behalf of both parties. I'm not married - so I really don't know how it'll make me feel, if it ever happens! But I feverishly quiz all my married friends for deets because I'd like to get married someday, so long as it was right for me.
