i am writing a review on pollination in fragmented habitats, and i came across this great quote by Janzen (one of the world experts on mutualistic interactions):

"What escapes the eye, however, is a much more insidious kind of extinction: the extinction of ecological interactions."

In fragmented habitats, Garlic Mustard does very well in the pollination department.

right. one of the causes of native pollination system decline is invasion unfortunately.

GM specifically is contributing to pollination system breakdown because it "tricks" a native pierid butterfly into laying eggs on it (the bfly's normal host is a Brassicaceae like GM), and contains toxins that are poisonous to the butterfly's larva. There has been a significant decline in this pierid since GM's invasion.
