Now, while the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there are only pretty, white, fluffy clouds in the sky (as opposed to the Anvils of Doooom that we've had there recently) NOW is when my power goes out. Lovely. Ah well, there's others far far worse off than I and it should be sorted by the time I get home from the Geocaching meetupRead more... )

The good thing is, you came through it in one piece.

Some caches may need maintenance, though...maybe even re-cataloging...

Yeah, I'm thinking there are a bunch of cache hiders out there saying 'Crap! I really should get out there and make sure my micro in the woods didn't get washed away.'
Two caches I got to ground zero on today were nowhere to be found and one park that contained a cache was closed due to flooding.

Yeah, I haven't lost power this time but in the past when I have, I keep flipping lightswitches out of habit.

Caribou's WiFi, well the store at the corner of Roselle and Golf (Schaumburg) does not have the chain's timed access interface, so once one is on the network one can stay on for hours and hours. Additionally, the staff at the Oakpark store on Harlem told me if one wants longer access one needs to merely signon through the timed interface with another E-mail address; FYI, the store staff told me this after they'd run out of passwords for the day. More recently, I was told that Caribou's official policy regarding their Cold Pressed Ice Coffee is 'no refills', this is contrary to the practice in most of the stores I've patronized.

I much prefer Caribou's iced coffee (which is cold coffee served cold) to Starbucks 'iced coffee' which is hot coffee poured into a glass full of ice. Bleh.

FWIW, of the recent craze regarding Ice Coffee, Caribou's is the best. McDonald's is good, surprisingly. Everyone else is just goofing around, Drunken Donuts efforts regarding Ice Coffee are remarkably forgettable and very ordinary, what I make for myself at home is as good. If that's the way Starbuck's makes their Ice Coffee, well that's the absolute WORST and most HORRIBLE way to prepare to Ice Coffee.
