Busy busy weekend. So just a few bullet points.

• Cooked the turkey Wednesday night, it came out pretty good, not award-winning but ok.

Thursday

• "I, Claudius" is just as brilliant as I remember although it's less exhausting to watch it in hour-long chunks than to watch it straight through. There was brie and mimosas though, so that helped.

I, Claudius (in which I include Claudius the God) is also a fantastic read. I've now read it more times than I've watched it. The adaptation is top-notch, but even so, there are surprise delights to be found in the text.

I read it too, shortly after I saw it for the first time (mumble years ago). I may have had a small crush on Derek Jacobi.
You're absolutely right, the books are better than the 13 hour miniseries.
I was quite shocked to read later that Graves didn't really enjoy writing prose and only did it so he could afford to spend some time writing poetry.
