I remember when that guy first came out - we thought he bore a striking resemblance to Howdy Doody, but with a huge voice.
You have to admit that the abuse of JavaScript is a bit much, and it will scare off the JavaScript-superstitious, but the flashback in and of itself is cool...

Yup, Howdy Doody is pretty apt. Until recently I had a Rick Astley cassette around, can't remember any other song from it though.
When I read the actual comic and then googled the explanation my first thought was 'Why Rick Astley?'
