Wednesday Beautiful Wednesday

I woke up in a new world today. A world were I can say my neice can become president, and MEAN it. Pardon me if I feel like my soul is swelling and brimming with National Pride. I kind of want to go out and get myself some flag pins.

I am happy about Obama. But I am deeply saddened by the passing of Prop 8 in your state. This will be a huge setback for gay rights. And all those people who got married in CA aren't anymore. :-(

It's not at all clear that they're not married any more; there's some deep legal fact about how laws can even apply retroactively. (For that matter, it's not 100% clear that, given the fairness doctrine, anyone in California is married any more.)

It's depressing; it's a setback. But it's far from the last word.

That would be kinda awesome, if suddenly, accidentally, Californians got rid of marriage for everone. Oops!

Well, what Tahnan says is true. We're actually not sure who's married now.

However we should celebrate the denial of Prop 4, which was also very important.

*HUGS* This is really one of those times where we can say "we Americans," and be filled with the pride it deserves. Boy does it feel good. O_O
