Just read about this in Entertainment Weekly. This is possibly my favorite book ever. Man, I hope the movie doesn't suck.

Ok, I don't do this often but ....

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Ok ok, I'm calm, really. I am greatly anticipating this just because of my love for the story. If they fuck this up I will be going to California to hurt people.

Do not turn this story into a bomb!!!

Both. You know I meant to tell you that...

As long as they don't cast Keanu Reeves as Rodrigo or Justin Timberlake as Alvar.

It'll probably be Brad Pitt as Ammar, an American playing an Arab in Spain speaking in a "British accent".

I'm trying to remain positive, thinking that the success of LotR while sticking to the books will bode well for further translations of fantasy books to the big screen.

But the cynical side of me just knows it's going to be FUBAR.

oh my god!!!

oh my god, though, the movie could SO easily suck if they don't do it right. SO easily. you know i'm right. if they DO do it right, though.... i may have issues with ggk, but damn that's a good book (i like the whole series of fantasy/historical books).

if they cast justin timberlake as alvar... well, i don't know what we could do to punish them enough.

they need to cast someone really tasty for miranda. that's all i have to say.

I have this odd feeling it'll be Catherine Zeta-Jones.

They're still scripting, so I'm sure this will change, but I hope the plot outline will change.

In Al-Rassan, during the Christian re-conquest of Moorish Spain, two princes vie for the love of the same woman.

I hope they're staying true to the fiction of the book and aren't injecting it with real world history instead. It is described as Fantasy and Documentary, is that even possible?

Nah, that's all taken from the original AP article-i.e., I don't understand this well enough to explain it in two sentences, so I'll make it something I understand and hope it's close enough.

I have no idea how right they're going to get it, but I wouldn't let the press release worry you.

Edward Zwick is a fine director. I'm pretty sure he'll do his best to be true to the book which I still haven't read. :P
