definitely take the new job. it's better in the long run. and plus your happiness is way more important than interest rates. thirdly, i know it's lame but i would also just feel guilty taking a staying bonus knowing i was on my way out.

keep us posted!

you're right. i'd feel guilty, too. i wish i could just be bitchy about it... i really do.

i guess its okay that my credit card will be paid back slowly. i always have my tax returns to go straight to the card.

two questions:
do you *have* to supply the old job two week's notice, or are you doing it because you need the reference?

$60 * six weeks = $360 in gas, off a $1000 bonus that you'll lose about a third of at least. the bonus will be at best $350 after gas and taxes.

fuck the old place. they have to offer the bonus because they're desperate to hang onto the talent. get out. your happiness and wear on the car are worth far more than $350-ish. plus all the other pluses about the new job you mentioned...

that was really only one question. ;)

I'd supply them with the 2 week's notice not because I needed the reference, but because I don't want to leave the kids I service in a horrible position. I want to give the company a little time to try to find other therapists to see the kids that I see. I'm more concerned about the kids than I am about the company.

Yeah, halfway through the second question I realized I basically knew what to say.

No brainer...new job. The wear/tear and gas expenses are far greater than what you'll walk away with if you stick it out for the year bonus.

take the new job...and put away 60.00 a week (what you'd be paying in gas) and put that towards the card.

plus - it's only going to be 700 after taxes with the bonus.

now go get your new job. ;)

I'll do $40. ;) I'll still need about $20 in gas to get to Woburn and back. :)
