I'm watching it. I'm intrigued by the world they're creating. Especially its strange mix of old fashioned and futuristic stuff. Like they have computer sheet thingies, completely real-like virtual worlds and they still use VHS.
I think it's not quite different enough from our world and I'm not sure how all that Cylon evolution happened in only 50 years, but then I think BSG established it was only 40 years from centurian type cylons to the skin job types.
The religious aspect is also very interesting. But in BSG I never got the idea that monotheism was in any way widespread, more that it was totally foreign to them. But Caprica is establishing that it's a significant minority.
I do look forward to this show every week and it's one I try to watch as soon as possible.

I believe it was the end of the Cylon War(s?) to the mini series. And since we know from Razor that the Cylons were already working on skin jobs at the end of the war, *and* the final five showed up to help them figure it out I've got no time with the time table.
But in BSG I never got the idea that monotheism was in any way widespread, more that it was totally foreign to them. But Caprica is establishing that it's a significant minority.I get contradictory ideas on that. Because in the mini Baltar doesn't treat Six's monotheism as a totally foreign concept to the world, just something he scoffs at like he does all religions at that point. Most of the BSG mains were wither dedicated polytheists or agnostic/atheist or we never really saw them comment on religion. Sure it's "Gods" that regular vocabulary for swearing/exclamation/etc. but I'm not sure what that tells us about everyone's beliefs

I have the Pilot sitting on my computer ready to watch, but I'm still contemplating pros and cons of taking up yet another show, lol. Glad there's someone on flist who watches it in case I give in (and like it).
I keep meaning to watch it. I watched the pilot way back and figured I'd continue, but I keep forgetting to continue.
Part of the problem I expect to have with this show just comes from the way BSG ended. It's not that it's a prequel and therefore we know where this leads, that's part of the darkness of it. But since in the end 'God did it' the franchise has lost a LOT of points with me and in fact the appeal of this show is lessened by it.
As for another rant that I'll try and do less of, I kind of can't stand Jacob's recaps. I already had issues with him, but he lost me with his Doomsday recap where somehow Rose and the Doctor being separated was a GOOD thing. Yeah...because *that's* what the story was saying.
