Amanda had given Okita a bright wave and smile when she'd bounded into the room. Now looking at the needles and yarn in front of her, her expression became a comical mix of dejection, trepidation and interest all at once.
'....knitting? Didn't she learn from the sewing section that I'm not good at this type of stuff?' Amanda thought, poking the thread with an idle finger and raising her hand when her name was called.
Aishida looked down at the knitting and frowned. He called out an absentminded "here" when his name was called, but his mind was on the knitting needles and yarn in front of him.
Natsumi smiled at Aishida as she worked. For some reason whenever she was with the other boy he had to do something that was far from masculine. It was sort of cute in a funny way.
She had no problems following the first steps and only had to back track a few times. That made her proud as Natsumi never had such luck.
Aishida looked around after a bunch of mess ups and fumbles. Seeing that Natsumi had made some good progress, he headed over, looking a bit off to the side.
"...I don't suppose you could help me get started....?" he asked after a moment.
Kazuya hoped Leo would show up for class today so he could do the project for him, like he usually did. If not there were plenty of other suckers in the room he could force. Who knows maybe Rei and his brother would fight again and the project canceled in the chaos.
When Kaz head his name called he spun around in his seat, as he was facing the back of the class talking to some chick, and yelled "WHAT!" It wasn't the first time he forgot about roll call.
It was a typical Nakamaru reaction but it annoyed Rei none the less. He was obviously doing it for the attention he always needed focused on him. Rei just hoped Shige would sometime show Kazuya that he didn't want everyone's attention as it came with consequence.
He was in class today.(shocker huh?)There was something mellow about him now, in truth he was coming to peace with everything in his life. (actually it made him more of a push over) He decided not to take anything personally and enjoy the little time he had left. His eyes went to Kazuya and frowned a little at his outburst.
Okita smiled at Amanda giving her a wave. She gave a confused look as she gave gestures about the knitting. She pointed at the yarn and shrugged
( ... )
Sumara was one of those whose name had to be repeated during the roll call mostly because she was thinking about whether or not she can make anything out of some yarn. She has never really tried knitting before, but she decided it would be better than doing some pointless worksheet that teachers usually give out. She started following the basic directions that the teacher was giving and didnt find it too hard to copy. 'I guess Ill just keep doing this and hopefully itll turn out to be something' she thought as she intenly repeated the basic steps.
Kazuya was at a lost, he had stopped paying attention after a certain word was spoken. "Ha she said shaft." he giggled some more to himself before poking at the yarn with the needle.
"Sumara your a girl what the hell is a slip knot? Isn't that an American band that just screams a lot?" He asked leaning over towards the girl that he was getting quite accustomed too.
Sumara was trying to her best to make something out of the materials, but when she looked at her progress all she saw was a small strand of tangled mess. 'I'm following the basic steps, what the hell am I doing wrong?' she thought with growing frustration. She stopped her work when she heard someone starting to talk to her.
"I'm not sure if I'm the one you should be asking", She said while holding up her own project."But I'm pretty sure that the slip knot is the little knot that you make for the starting point". She demonstrated how to make one on a part of her yarn and undid it once she was finished."I think that is the only part I've done with success so far."
Sumara then returned to her work, determined to make something at least recognizable and not something that only a mother could partially stomache.
Ax did pay attention and so he responded right away with a jerk of his arm when called. He tried to keep his mind distracted from all the stuff he had learned.
Kanako was pregnant, what the hell was he too do now! Couldn't he get kicked out of school if it got out?! He knew how to sew from working on his stage costumes but knitting was new. He poured all of his efforts into his work distracting him from Kanako and their unborn baby.
Okita tried to listen to what the teacher said but she was well heard what the teacher said but... it was as if the instruction were erased from her memory the moment she looked at her yarn. Shifting towards Amanda she showed her her knot. "Um...do you get this?"

Yukiko Fujii rasied her arm high to everyone can see. "Hold left needle still in left hand, and move left fingers over to brace right needle. With right index finger, pick up the yarn from the ball. Release right hand’s grip on the needle, and use index finger to bring yarn under and over the point of right needle." She gave a brightful smile.
"Everyone got it, yes?" She saw her students struggling and she frowned, she didn't like seeing her student not capturing her classes. Putting her yarn down she looked over her students.
Amanda looked over at Okita and shook her head, giving her a bright and clueless smile. "I was going to ask you the same question...I thought sewing was hard enough....now they're giving us two needles."
At the teacher's question of who needed help, Amanda raised her hand and waved it around enthusiastically to get attention.
