It took me a long time to learn to get past the recognition that everyone starts out sweet babies, and recognize that there are some adults who are toxic and should be avoided and where necessary, removed from your life, no matter what it was that led them to their current state. There are also some people you're stuck with, but you need to just ( Read more... )

Good for you. People like that truly are toxic, and in my humble yet correct opinion, have absolutely no business being around children.

I resigned my job at the school due to my daughter's art teacher screaming at children like that...and I witnessed her doing such to my daughter, as I walked past in the hallway, a little late for my first class group (Title I). I told this woman off in no uncertain terms, marched with my daughter to the principal's office, reported the incident, resigned, then took my daughter out for a sundae...then registered her at the school just down the road from us. She began that very day. I've never regretted that decision.

Apparently the children have been afraid to speak up, because when other parents spoke to the principal, this teacher gave them the "hawk eye", or "glared at them" for days afterward. I warned her that if there were repercussions from this, I'd be back. I mentioned her professional association a few times. I told her that I had a close relationship with my daughter and that she talks to me every day about everything, so I'm well aware of what's happened before this, and will be well aware of anything that happens after this.

Some of the other parents have children coming up through the school that could have her as a teacher later, and are afraid it will be taken out on their children. I have two coming up, but she's already being mean to the kids, so what's to be lost? Nothing compared to what could be gained.

I have a meeting request in with the principal too.

She's nervous. She approached me today to give me another excuse, and I told her I was done talking about it for now, no excuses were acceptable, and left her.
