Before: Did a short (12 session) acting course at the National Theatre, formed a loose theatre group as a result (archtheatre.com, but how often the website will get updated is anyone's guess), got 2 gigs (one someone from the course, one actual real punter booking) to play theArch, an evil whackjob cult (3 hours in character, plus 20 minute ( Read more... )

Starting to think I'm ok, then see the work that's turned out by other folk in the studio, and despair again. Ah, but I can't affect what they do, so just concentrate on improving my stuff....

I will always be my own harshest critic, that's how I improve what I do, the tricky bit is managing the realistic balance of encouragement and recognition of what I do well that needs to go along with it...

You see i play a character named Iggy in a show called Animalia, And I wrestle with the same forces...just ask the other cast members.
I guess the best we can do is relax in the knowledge that we're at least doing OK right now, and that we are actively seeking the tools of refinement and greater meaning.(Does that sound highfalutin or what?)
Anyway, I feel like it's a great opportunity of expression and exploration for me.
So, my compliments to you on your expression and your exploration. Good work.
As Iggy says in Over and Beyond when he stops laughing,"I'm done."

P.S. I really enjoyed the way that laughing bit turned out.
