What's going on
My Boss, the very BEST BOSS EVER (BBE), who seemed extremely secure in his position, just found out he is not secure at all. The position was re-classified to a higher level and someone beat him out. He will keep his current pay grade, but will move down to the deputy director's office he used to occupy before he became director (temporarily, as it turned out) I believe this is political rather than on the merits. I cried and had to leave the room when I heard the announcement. That shocked the bejezuz out of folks, cuz no one's ever seen me upset at work in 5 years.
BBE will be looking for options. I am looking for options. Everyone else is playing wait and see - a few people are thiking they are going to be better off with a new boss bit I suspect they are in for an unhappy surprise) BBE supports me in my other option efforts, so I have a great reference. I really am making way less than I should, and that is widely enough known within the organization that I should find something soon. BBE (whom I care deeply about personally as well as appreciating as a boss)will find a better situation. I have been sitting in this job too long because I was so comfortable with it, but its really time I got some kind of kick in the ass.
It's time for me to move on, but I'm going to remember this situation VERY fondly.
