I left New England when I was 14 or so and have lived in California ever since (except for one exciting year in Guatemala , C.A.) , my son was born in Ca. so when he turned 17 I took him and my old '72 BMW Moto to new England to ride around and show him where his old man grew up .

Things had changed a lot but not as much as I'd expected and yes , it was still home to me , all those years later .

I feel that way about Harrisburg, where my mother's side of the family is from. I guess I would feel that way about Philadelphia too, but I haven't been there in 21 years. I have never been to New England, NYC is as far northeast as I have ever gotten.

My wife's people on her mother's side are from Shrewsbury, a small town in York Co.
Whenever I think of Philly I think of Reading Terminal Market.
